The current state of radio news in Miss.

News Man

I am in the news side of the business and am wondering what you think of the current state of the radio news product being offered in the state.
 
Nearly every major station had it's own news dept, or news man. Randy Bell did WJDX and WZZQ. Now I hear him doing the news for all of the local Jackson Clear Channel stations, Jackson, Hattiesburg and even heard him on a lousianna station. Stations that used to have local news are now airing news produced by a local TV station (which is mostly an advertisement for the TV station) and often broadcasting the audio from a 6pm newscast. The fact of the matter is, there just isn't much local news weather or traffic on local radio anymore unless it is piped in from somewhere else.
 
Also there is News Mississippi that comes with Supertalk. They have been around a while but fills ins with state news. I sometimes wonder why Supertalk doesn't have a state news roundup program at night, or an HD2 that combines Americas News Radio and News Mississippi with a tie in with WLBT in the morning and evening for Jackson, or some other station in some of their network affiliates outside Jackson; and do talk at night and overnight, and weekends like KRLD in Dallas and WBZ in Boston do.
