It will mark the first time that "Chicago's Very Own" has carried CW Network programming since 2016.

In what clearly felt like the worst kept secret since Nexstar first took ownership of the CW. It was only a matter of time before WGN would return there, not sure when WCIU's affiliation contract was set to expire, but maybe they wanted to honor that first to its conclusion or at least close to it before finally announcing & eventually making the switch to WGN.Nexstar moving CW Network programming back to WGN-TV Channel 9 in Chicago

True and also KUSI San Diego is another one where Nexstar has a duopoly with KSWB the Fox affiliate in the area. Nexstar bought KUSI all for the same reasons to have direct control for a CW affiliate. In what clearly felt like the worst kept secret since Nexstar first took ownership of the CW. Maybe Tegna might look into buying the Nexstar/Mission stations in exchange for a CW affilation agreement so Nexstar can buy WPIX.True and also KUSI San Diego is another one where Nexstar has a duopoly with KSWB the Fox affiliate in the area. *Note KFMB DT- 8.2 currently has the CW affiliation in San Diego.
Why are you posting the same "Maybe Company X should buy this station from Company Y" nonsense on multiple boards?Maybe Tegna might look into buying the Nexstar/Mission stations in exchange for a CW affilation agreement so Nexstar can buy WPIX.
One of the things that will become clear in the relaunch of these boards in the weeks to come: these aren't fantasy boards. If you're here with something factual to contribute about the real world of broadcasting, we're working to make the conversation here as interesting and engaging as possible. If you're just posting lists of all the company names you can think of, I'm sure there's somewhere for you to do that - but it won't be here. Why are you posting the same "Maybe Company X should buy this station from Company Y" nonsense on multiple boards?
It's tired, and adds nothing to the discussion other than fanboy fantasy. Please stop it.
NO! Also the FCC stands with the fine on both Nexstar and Mission so they need to sell some to either Tegna or Gray to get Nexstar's cap lower to buy WPIX.Why are you posting the same "Maybe Company X should buy this station from Company Y" nonsense on multiple boards?

You were asked to stop doing this before. You're at it again.NO! Also the FCC stands with the fine on both Nexstar and Mission so they need to sell some to either Tegna or Gray to get Nexstar's cap lower to buy WPIX.
My comments are not fantasy and free speech plus free market are legal under the first amendment so the market forces will decide will Nexstar decides to sell the stations. Its a plain and simple law.You were asked to stop doing this before. You're at it again.
You don't know what markets Nexstar might be planning to sell in, unless, you're an insider, which I doubt.I'm telling the truth
We went from "X company buys Y station" to talking about free speech so fast it's scary. My comments are not fantasy and free speech plus free market are legal under the first amendment
I really doubt any actual insiders would want to tip their hand about any potential transactions that would involve an awful lot of money on a message board. You don't know what markets Nexstar might be planning to sell in, unless, you're an insider, which I doubt.
It's honestly aggravating. Free speech comes with rules. It is not a draconian edict for the mod team and other members to say they don't want fantasy television talk and speculation to denigrate the experience on here.We went from "X company buys Y station" to talking about free speech so fast it's scary.
Posting on a privately owned website is a privilege not a first amendment protect right.I'm telling the truth
