THE DAILY NEWS RADIO/TV GUYS ARE OFF THE HOOK! O&A AGREE!

Two weeks ago OPIE & ANTHONY blasted David Hinckley on 92.3 K-ROCK. They stated he writes about too much about obscure area radio stations. See WFUV, WNYE, WBAI & any other garbage stations you can dig up from the grave.

I left a message on Hinckley's voice mail stating WOR's MICHAEL SAVAGE has a new book out. Visit his Website for the 411 The next day D.H. gives a free plug for Vic Latino's new music project for sale. Now, I like Vic, many folks on this board like Vic. Who's more important in the radio biz as we speak? Hands down it's Savage. Close to 400 radio stations ain't too bad. This kind of crap pisses me off.

Garbage stations? Come on, give me a break. If they're not your cup of tea that's one thing, but definitely not "garbage" stations, especially a station like WFUV. Would you rather hear more of what can already found from 92.1 to 107.9 on those frequencies?

Perhaps you might have more luck contacting the Post's Michael Starr, as Savage's ideology tends to fit in better with the Murdoch-owned newspaper...

So to recap: random guy leaves voicemail message for reporter concerning as story idea about a syndicated SF-based talk show host...which random guy isn't even sure reporter received. And because reporter doesn't immediately change next day's column to cover random guy's suggestion, reporter is crap. OK. I think I got it now. Get me Charlie Gibson's number; I have an idea for a story. And Charlie better drop everything to cover it or he is crap.

I was a big WFUV listener back in the late '70s & early '80s when "One On One" was the sports show to listen to. All the great talent they had back then.

If you ask me D.H. give too mich ink to radio stations below 92.1 and AM stations like WLIB. In my circle of friends no one ever talks about WLIB or WNYC. The news should hire Rodney Ho from Atlanta. Ho is a radio reporter. Let D.H. stick to Springsteen concert reviews & writing about TV.

No way. Starr tends to give extra press to Vic Latino, any Q-104 jock and any PR agent who gets married or has a baby. I enjoy Fluff (the stuff you put on ice cream), but not his fluff. I've tried many times to get Starr to give press to Savage...losing battle.

I love these guys on radio message boards. I also spoke to D.H.'s boss Richard Huff about Savage's new book. Savage is the #3 talker in the USA per TALKERS plus he's heard on 710AM WOR. The guy is fantastic doing radio. The man is a player is the biz!

Also, several times I've asked Huff to maybe give us the ratings breakdown...Ratings for old Imus vs. Morning Cup of Joe. What's the story? I think that would be an interesting bit to write about. I'm a reader who pays $ every day for the News. I hope they want to keep my business.

P.S. I forgot Savage doesn't air on WLIB or WNYC...it winds up on the editing room floor.

Re-read your original post. It said you left a message on the guy's voicemail, nothing more. I took what you wrote and commented on it. You're one person asking that the paper cater to what you want, when you want it, and apparently how you want it, and then suggesting you'll stop buying if they don't do as you ask. They probably get a dozen calls just like yours every day.

Uhhhh....depends on one's perspective. :) From the dance music POV, hands down it would be Vic. He may not be on 400 radio stations but he matters to us :)

And I suppose that what your friends talk about automatically determines what should and what shouldn't be published in David Hinckley's column.

I have no problem with D.H. or Starr giving ink to Vic, but give some ink to Savage. Share the love. I would say most of the posters on this board are in the 18-34 range. Savage appeals to the 25-54 crowd so we have a major slant on this board.

I buy the News & Post 7 days a week. I have a right to voice my opinions. I help pay their salaries.

No doubt...we all have our opinions! :)

Regarding David Hinckley, I talk to him on occasion concerning matters regarding dance music and Pulse 87. I don't expect him to come out with an article on everything I say, but I am still a News subscriber and that won't change. :)

D.H. and Starr are going to write what they write as long as it is relevant to the diverse New York radio community at large and perhaps they'll cover Savage soon enough. Though with WABC's Phil Boyce leaving, that has now become THE big story. Regarding the demos of the posters of the board, I'm not into Savage and I'm 42. I don't hate him...just not into him.

You guys don't get it. The original post mentioned O&A making a valid point about David Hinkcley and his coverage of the NYC area radio market. I agree with them. I can't agree with O&A? I thought I was in America.

When it comes to dance music, I enjoy it. I believe the product was much better back when WKTU 103.5 signed on. Today's dance music it not as good. I'm sure that will bring out the player haters.

Regarding today's dance music, no "hating"; that's your opinion. I can respect people's tastes. I'm just looking out for the current and next generation of dance music fans. :)

And I do get what you are saying regarding O&A's comments. I think what threw some people off was the fact you were pushing hard for Savage and was disappointed that Vic Latino got the "nod". And based on opinions on this board, it's all relative. You have your Michael Savage fans that feel the same way. Being a dance music fan, my interests lie with what Vic's latest record release is offering. Honestly, it's not a question of who should get press or not. That is something that only David Hinckley can determine.

And perhaps soon, Savage will get his "write"
