The Declining state of radio and your opinion why...

Bob: TOTALLY! I like to play none of those songs. I prefer to play the lesser known songs mixed in with the hits because that makes for more intriguing radio!

Capulet previously opined, "I blame it on the music. There's not enough classic rock. They need to play more great Foreigner songs like " Feels Like The First Time " and Journey classics like " Don't Stop Believing " and Areosmith's " Dream On "."

I trust Capulet was speaking with tongue firmly implanted in cheek.

Nice to know there's members with a sense of humor!

Yes....I was speaking with tongue in cheek! ;D

The music is good if you have the personalities on the air who know how to work.

And the thread comes full circle.
It goes back to the heyday when the talent was talented. No one has carried it on from generation to generation. And the best are retiring, heading to the Station in the Sky (WGOD). The neewbies haven't a clue..cause they aren't ALLOWED to (damn consultants) and...the good veterans ARENT going to train their replacements (like back in the day)...and BTW...did I mention the BEST show up on the balance sheet, and that expense is a razor sharp cut.

Commentary: I still believe it's the alternatives available today causing issues.

The best don't necessarily show up on the balance sheet when ads are put where they need to load up a jock who doesn't cut it, the sponsors are everywhere else as well and they don't care where their ads are placed.

The best also don't show up this side of the speakers, in person or by proxy, with the objective being to find ways to call attention away from themselves and the fact that they take that same turn onto that same road that every other hopped up person has taken not too long before they were taken out of commission altogether. These days the best don't necessarily show up on balanve sheets for the better.

Silkie, you have confused me a bit. ???

The best don't necessarily show up on the balance sheet when ads are put where they need to load up a jock who doesn't cut it, the sponsors are everywhere else as well and they don't care where their ads are placed.
So, you are saying a "solid" line up of jocks is important...OR...the "best" are protected by the "bootstrap"effect.?

And:
The best also don't show up this side of the speakers, in person or by proxy, with the objective being to find ways to call attention away from themselves and the fact that they take that same turn onto that same road that every other hopped up person has taken not too long before they were taken out of commission altogether.

Are you saying the "best" may have "rolled over" to just doing "the format"?

Lastly :
These days the best don't necessarily show up on balanve sheets for the better.

Agreeing with my point: ...the issue of "We're paying him/her how much for what?
