The Doghouse with JV and Elvis WFNY 92.3 Free Fm

all the jv and elvis hype

so the jv and elvis show - the dog house - im hearing a lot of positive things about the dog house.. i was wonderin who else here listens to them. and y they are still in middays when they have such a high rating in that time slot..

Re: all the jv and elvis hype

The real "hype" is the fact that these sorts of show get so much notice on message boards while the stations carrying them ( in NYC) get only around 1 to, atbest 2% of available listeners.

I know that demographics are king in an era of declining listenership, but, you can't ignore the fact that over 98% of listeners are elsewhere.

Elvis and JV - O and A's Future Replacements?!?!

I would assume that if O and A have lower ratings than David Lee Roth on the anniversary of his departure that John Mainelli will have no choice but to remove them and replace them with the Doghouse. Someone's going to have to bite the bullet on these guys at some point. The Doghouse is building its army and knows how to handle the FCC and CBS censorship rules without compromising their show. These guys are hungry. O and A are fat cat millionaires. I dont even think they could put on a decent PM show at this point. The clock is ticking.....

I listen to them every single day they are on. I sure as hell care.

I'm a fan from the old days when they were on an Urban station, and I gotta say they transitioned to an all-talk format masterfully. These guys are obviously radio pros!

The Doghouse with JV & Elvis is NEW YORKS BEST NEW RADIO SHOW! Stuck in a timeslot that nobody cares about, these two radio pros have brought fun back into an otherwise boring radio market. It's only a matter of time until they land that drivetime spot. Yes there are other talents in this market but nothing compares to THE DOGHOUSE!

What crack are you smoking? O&A's ratings are lower because of the crap they are putting out. JV/Elvis should go back to the Castro where they belong.

Seems to me that you're the one smoking crack.

Fact #1, all of O&A's ratings since day 1 included The Dog House at the 9 O'Clock Hour
Fact #2, The current book showed The Dog House gaining 30%
Fact #3, The current book showed O&A dropping 40%
Fact #4, O&A is currently getting DLR numbers

This means that for the purpose of comparing previous books to the current book, The Dog House's rise in ratings could do absolutely nothing but HELP O&A's ratings. Besides all ratings drop at the 9 O'Clock Hour because people have to work. Most jobs don't play O&A or The Dog House, so the big winner here is the music stations.

Face facts, O&A are not newcomers to NY. They are not rising in the ratings. They're not even keeping the miniscule ratings they have. This is probably due to the fact that O&A are a PM drive show and lack the energy for a morning drive spot. Or it could be that they spend as much as 60% of the show talking about how their boss is a complete idiot.

I think most people want something to laugh about on the morning drive.

Current morning show has no problems in that category, thanks.

You know "starscream", if you're so against the idea why are you posting on this thread? It's very obvios you're a fan of O&A and there's nothing wrong with that. If you're going to advocate the advantages of a failing morning show, why not post it on your very own O&A thread? This is a JV and Elvis thread...and while we can appreciate constuctive criticism, it's very obvious where your loyalty lies. If you don't like Jv and Elvis why do you feel the need to make it so known on this thread?

Here's an idea, head over to Wackbag.com and make your feeling known there. Like I said, there's no problem with constructive criticism but you're attitude toward the show is getting old. You must be lisetening to the show if you have so much to say. And if you're not listening, then drop it, because you have nothing meaningful to say.

I'd just like to show that a typical JV and Elvis fan tops a thread by responding to a post from six months ago.

Bravo, sir. Bravo.

Especially since I had been keeping a relatively low profile in this thread for the last few months.

And yes, I am an O&A fan. Never hid that. But you want the constructive criticism? Here goes. There is no "loyalty" when it comes to radio. You like what you like and you listen to what you like. I think it is possible to be both a Stern and O&A fan. I think it's possible to be an O&A and Doghouse fan.

I think O&A are better suited to be an afternoon show. But with the current set up the way it is, you can't have O&A on in the afternoons.

I have listened to JV and Elvis when O&A were in best of, and I'm not the type of person who will listen to whatever O&A tells me sucks. I am a fan of programs that O&A have derided on the air multiple times. So I listened with an open mind and have never been motivated to listen longer than 10-15 minutes at a clip. The show just annoys me.

Here's another question for you. O&A and Ron and Fez managed to pack the Hard Rock Cafe to the gills. JV and Elvis had an appearance at VIP. Did they pack the place? What happened? I'm curious.

Don't be overly shocked if your boys are moved to a nighttime slot now that Penn's gone.

Yes The Dog House packed VIP and it was a really great night. You are wrong about O & A and Ron And Fez, because only Anthony showed up for the Ron and Fez gig at Hard Rock.

Maybe we should get into the comedy tour that O & A had last year when they only sold half the tickets to all shows. And the fact that it was the Dog House that came up with the idea....Oh, that's right the Dog House had a MAJOR Comedy tour in SF that SOLD OUT EVERY NIGHT.

You are right, it's everyones view about a show.....So if you like O & A, that's great, if you like the Dog House that's great.....

Put one thing you nailed for sure.....O & A are an afternoon show for sure.. They should be afternoon drive at WFNY. You said it not me.

Tony,

Stop harping on the comedy tour idea. If you want to compare apples to apples, O&A's stops on the virus at PNC and Tweeter did extremely well. If it was such a failure for O&A, why has the number of stops for the tour nearly doubled in size?

Secondly, my reference to "O&A packing the hard rock to the gills" was in reference to the Halloween show, not the past Ron and Fez event. It was a Ron and Fez event and was sold out, and Anthony showing up was an added attraction. O&A didn't even promote the event and it sold out.

Everybody has their own taste for what they like, whether it be food, television, music, radio.
The DOGHOUSE put a taste in the mouth's of San Franciscan's that they couldn't get enough of for ten years. Yes, New Yorks Best New Radio Show even had better numbers than Howard did out there. And now that they are here they will continue to grow in New York. JV & Elvis are so hungry to be in NY that they took the midday slot at Free-FM. What's wrong with that? NY is #1, no matter what slot your in.
Other shows at the station have established their name, but their product is still lacking.
The DOGHOUSE is the freshest personality radio show to hit NY in years.
And personally I will do whatever it takes to support them in hopes they do get that prize drive time slot.
And if you don't like them, fine, just go and create your own forum.

Are you kidding........ PNC sold 13,000 and 17,500 cap...... When the Dog House did it's tour in SF they sold out 35K...Oh really Tweeter.... 11,000 it has a cap of 25,000....Nice try....

You said the O & A and Ron and Fez event.....it was the O & A event at the Hard Rock and it was a different event at the Hard Rock for Ron and Fez.

You said it before....if you like O & A that's cool....so why post on the thread....post something on the Anybody see O and A's "ratings"? thread. Here is the link http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,60028.0.html. Maybe you can explain the ratings to the O & A fans......

Tony, where are you pulling your ticket numbers for the virus tour? I'm curious.

I didn't say they "sold the venues out". I said they "did very well".

You still didn't answer the question why if the virus tour was such a failure, why the tour is going to be run again this year at double the venues.

Doing a comedy show with multiple comics wasn't exclusively the Doghouse's idea. It's been done for many years at different venues. (Westbury comes to mind, so does the Montreal Comedy festival. Hell, Comic Relief if you want to go back that far.)

In fact, wasn't the name of the show "Doghouse Comedy Jam"? That sounds really original. Speaking of original, who was the headlining act of the Jam? Oh, right. Mencia.

But please, keep harping on the idea that the comedy tour was their idea.

And also, Shoreline has a capacity of 20000. Please tell me where they sold out to a crowd of 35K.

In San Francisco, the Doghouse would beat Stern in their demo, 18-34 men. White 18-34 they were a close 1,2 going back and forth. Dohouse destroyed Stern in the Asian and Hispanic numbers.

Stern beat the Doghouse in his demo, 25-54 men across the board.

Doghouse never outbilled Stern in SF after his second book at KITS.

I, of course, meant:

1)Doghouse

2) Black, not Asian

Starscream,

The Dog house was at the Shoreline Amphitheatre and sold it out 25,000+ 2004 Dave Attell, Ralphie May, Frank Caliendo, Aries Spears, Gabriel Iglesias, Shawn Wayans, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier
and Carlos Mencia!
