Booker is doing morning drive in the Philly the #6 market. I am not sure that was smart moving from the number 1 market to the #6 market. I know he was pissed that they did not give him the morning drive at WFNY, but to tell you the truth The Doghouse should have gotten before O and A.
.....
1) AM Drive in Philly > Night in New York, especially considering Q102 is the heritage Top 40 in Philly AND FNY was a sinking ship when Booker was in negotiations for the Philly job. As I remember, he left right before O&A came in.
He probably got a
very nice raise, and he's still within quick driving distance to Market 1 in a TV gig pops up. Plus, his face is all over billboards in Philly, something he never got even when he was doing AM drive with CBS radio on WNEW.
2) Your idea that the Doghouse should have gotten the morning slot before O&A makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. O&A have a proven track record of success in MANY of the markets they were coming into, (Philly, Cleveland, Boston, NYC, etc.) where JV and Elvis only had success in San Francisco.
This is NOT pissing on the Doghouse, but if you're Joel Hollander and your job is potentially on the line, you go with the crew that you know brings success, rather than an unknown commodity.
As for "Booker being pissed" - are you talking initially before DLR came in, or when DLR left and O&A got the job?
I would be annoyed if I did mornings in NYC and then someone with no radio experience got the job, but if I was on a low-rated show and then O&A were on-deck, I'd understand completely.
