The Doghouse with JV and Elvis WFNY 92.3 Free Fm

The reason The Doghouse is in New York is because when they launched the FREE Fm in SF (Oct 2005), it was temporary to fill the slot until Adam Corolla started at the beginning of the year. They were on a trial basis and ended up taking the slot in NY.

The mistake that CBS made in my opinion, is that Free FM in SF is a brand new station, not the station Howard Stern was once at. What they should've done is put Corolla on Stern's old station, and let Elvis and Jv be the O & A of the West Coast, or at least in San Francisco.

O & A on tape delay is not that bad of a move, considering there is nothing here. All the local talent (Darian O'Toole, John London) were fired. I even read London had a great first book in the 18-34 male demos.

Free Fm in SF can't dump Corolla cause they have made a huge commitment to him, evident by the billboards and promotion of him. Bailing out now would make them look stupid, DLR like...

My guess is that sooner or later, The Doghouse will resurface here in SF, considering Free FM did not even make the books this time around. They had a 0.4 last time.

Word life,

I agree with you 100%. The mistake that FreeFm in SF made was letting "The Doghouse" go to NY. You are right and I was reading it on another board they should have branded what they had in the CA area. Someone also said they should have went regional with the shows. Northern CA, "The Doghouse" . Northeast O & A etc around the country. Once some of them worked well enough they could have moved them to other areas. I really believe that CBS saw something in "The Doghouse" to bring them to NY. Are they placed right, not sure. They have an hour of the morning drive and think that is where they need to push themselves. If you can get someone to listen, well then they might listen from work via the Internet Stream. I think I am on the same page as you. We should be working for CBS and running the stations...LOL

Now I really have respect for JV from the Doghouse.

" Along with all this madness, the Doghouse has helped the community. Hollywood walked from San Francisco to San Jose (50 Miles) to raise funds to help a 3-year-old cancer patient. JV swam from Alcatraz to the shore."

Since coming into the San Francisco Market, The Doghouse has shattered every ratings record! No other Bay Area morning show has had double-digit ratings! The audience is there & they are listening to JV, Elvis, Hollywood, Ruth, Show Biz, Greg Lopez, and Hammerin’ Hank! While other morning shows are poking lighthearted fun at the news or running another grim traffic report, the Doghouse is frothing around like a fraternity party that’s been going all night!

Created by JV (Jeff Vandergrift) in July of 1994, the Doghouse started at KHQT HOT 97.7 in San Jose! When the station was sold in 1995, KYLD picked them up & the rest is history! Raunchy antics, crazy stunts, and potty mouths are a part of the winning formula cooked up every morning by the Doghouse! They have appeared on The Leeza Gibbons Show, WB Network, & Real TV just to name a few! The Dogs have lit themselves on fire, crashed cars into walls while in them, bucked WiLD bulls, jumped off buildings, & rode motorcycles into the Bay to say the least!

Along with all this madness, the Doghouse has helped the community. Hollywood walked from San Francisco to San Jose (50 Miles) to raise funds to help a 3-year-old cancer patient. JV swam from Alcatraz to the shore.

Listen to the Doghouse every weekday morning 5:30 to 10:00 and make sure that they don’t get you “In The Doghouse!”

O&A raised money for Katrina victims. An urban legend is that Howard Stern had a huge money winner from the McDonald's Monopoly Game and donated it to a hospital in Boston.

Northstar, how long have you been working for JV and Elvis? Just curious.

Ok so O & A donated some money....JV did the swim and I think that is worth more then any money donated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doghouse Look it up yourself. "JV swam from Alcatraz and Hollywood walked from San Francisco to San Jose (50 Miles) to raise funds to help a 3-year-old cancer patient" this is a fact. Not urban want to be or I sent money.

How about listeners that really love the show. You have to be off the wall if you think I am part of the show. I love the show and think that it is the best show ever on radio

I agree Mark,

I think they have one of the best shows on Radio today.

Show of hands - how many people think Northstar and Tony are interns or something for Free-FM or the Doghouse?

Count my hand raised. Both of them have relatively few posts, yet ALL of their posts are about the Doghouse. Northstar posts on the SF board too.

If not interns, perhaps its JV?

Although the posts may be a bit overboard, they can have that kind of an effect on people. To me, they are the Stern of San Francisco. They were once on a prominent station in the Bay Area, and then when they signed on with the station they were on for 10 years, the old station tanked.

Since their previous station let them go, I have refused to listen to that station and their numbers have gone down, but probably won't tank.

But I wish them well in NY, they are definitely worth a listen.

Oh I see,

I like the show, so that means that I am JV. What the hell is that all about. So anyone that posts about Stern, is Stern. Please

I just found these message boards today. I really needed to tell the world how great The Doghouse really is. I have been listening from day one in NY and now they are my favorite show of all times.

You have to love it how someone can change words around, even if it says Quote. Nice try but "The Doghouse" is still the best radio show in New York or even the country at that.
