That's a major problem...for sure. When they signed a deal with WFNY they signed a deal to bring in the listeners from XM. If they did not follow and they are still listening on XM that hurts the deal they signed for sure. CBS is paying them big money to move listeners or get new ones to listen 6-9am and if they are only 21st in the morning ratings well that sucks for both CBS and O & A.

Why are you talking like you are an expert? O&A's job is to get new listeners, not bring the ones from XM to Free. The O&A show on Free is not offering anything new and/or exclusive to the XM listeners, so they have no reason to switch.

And NJSal - why are you even bringing Howard into this? There is no way to compare XM and Sirius' ratings outside of subscriber count, and that doesn't reflect what Virus 202 and Howard 100 is doing, it's just the total number.

It has been said before, they are being paid to bring the listeners to WFNY. It seems that they do not care and want everything to be about XM, well then they should have stayed at XM. When it comes to the Dog House they are all about getting ratings for the station that pays them. 1.6 share sucks for any station in morning drive and you know it as much as everyone in the radio world. That places them at 21 in the morning drive numbers and even they should be pissed off at those numbers. I know they are, because they have pulled all the posts about on the wackbag site and Antony has not posted on the NYRMB as he always does when he defends the numbers.

That is true, they were heraleded with so much hype that should have been an instant pop in their numbers, they easily should have debuted at number one. There is no way that the argument can be made that people dont know they're there, the marketing blitz was more than Howard ever got. True he was cemented and never needed it but they were well promoted, people just dont care. Maybe becasue they're really not doing a great show. I disagree with the idea of their cutting their losses and going back to Sat, I thik they should just quit riding on their reputations and reinvent themselves. It's called work and effort.
 
As much of a Dog House fan I am, I don't think you could expect them to debut at No. 1. They were off terrestrial radio and a lot of people have forgotten. They were also on at a different daypart than mornings, so a probably a slightly different audience.

On the other hand I still must say, they should still be drawing in more numbers than they currently are.
 
You are right they WERE gone a long time which is why it should have been such an event when they returned and as it has been posted before they have ALWAYS had a small (yet very vocal and loyal) audience all of whom would have known they were coming back. They've never had millions of listeners, they ALWAYS even at WNEw had a small cume that listened religiously and drove their tsl through the roof, that is their secret. So again their audience should have been right there. Yeah people forgot but again the one thing that was really done well was the promotion! Billboards in virtually every market, Busses, and TV spots!, they were pretty impossible to miss. Point is people just dont care. Either way you try to look at it, Dog house still went up and O and A still went down.
 
O&A will never be #1 in ny or in markets 1-10. They just aren't as bbig as some people think they are.Think about it,Before sex for sam O&A pulled in decent #'s in drive time but not good enough to drive a station or be #1.The sex or sam incident made THEIR NAME bigger than them.People new and know them from the press it got not because of the great show.

I am a faithful DH listener and back on wnew I was a faithful O&A fan but they just dont do it for me.They are a name thats all.Put them back at 2-6pm and Dh mornings Ron and fez 10-2.
 
Plan and simple O&A aren't able to achieve what they want as per the days of WNEW, and that is what management was hoping to do with bringing them to FREE FM, they have turned redundent, simple, and in my own opinion unfunny while on terrestrial radio, if they want to achieve the glory that they once had, check there pride at the door, bow out gracefully and take it all to XM...They know it isn't working on free radio so just do there thing on satellite where they can get away with it and let JV & Elvis do what is needed in the proper time slot to make the numbers that this station is needing...
