I think most people want something to laugh about on the morning drive.

Current morning show has no problems in that category, thanks.

You know "starscream", if you're so against the idea why are you posting on this thread? It's very obvios you're a fan of O&A and there's nothing wrong with that. If you're going to advocate the advantages of a failing morning show, why not post it on your very own O&A thread? This is a JV and Elvis thread...and while we can appreciate constuctive criticism, it's very obvious where your loyalty lies. If you don't like Jv and Elvis why do you feel the need to make it so known on this thread?

Here's an idea, head over to Wackbag.com and make your feeling known there. Like I said, there's no problem with constructive criticism but you're attitude toward the show is getting old. You must be lisetening to the show if you have so much to say. And if you're not listening, then drop it, because you have nothing meaningful to say.

I'd just like to show that a typical JV and Elvis fan tops a thread by responding to a post from six months ago.

Bravo, sir. Bravo.

Especially since I had been keeping a relatively low profile in this thread for the last few months.

And yes, I am an O&A fan. Never hid that. But you want the constructive criticism? Here goes. There is no "loyalty" when it comes to radio. You like what you like and you listen to what you like. I think it is possible to be both a Stern and O&A fan. I think it's possible to be an O&A and Doghouse fan.

I think O&A are better suited to be an afternoon show. But with the current set up the way it is, you can't have O&A on in the afternoons.

I have listened to JV and Elvis when O&A were in best of, and I'm not the type of person who will listen to whatever O&A tells me sucks. I am a fan of programs that O&A have derided on the air multiple times. So I listened with an open mind and have never been motivated to listen longer than 10-15 minutes at a clip. The show just annoys me.

Here's another question for you. O&A and Ron and Fez managed to pack the Hard Rock Cafe to the gills. JV and Elvis had an appearance at VIP. Did they pack the place? What happened? I'm curious.

Don't be overly shocked if your boys are moved to a nighttime slot now that Penn's gone.

I'd like to show that a typical O&A fan responds to everyone as "Sir", assuming they're speaking to men all the time. I'm female, just to set the record straight.

I'd also like to point out that you bringing up the fact that you're post was from six months ago is irrelevant. I'm new to the board, I saw your post and I responded- so what's the problem? I didn't know there was an expiration date on your opinions, and if there is, why did you respond back?

It's nice to hear that you're not a mindless drone who only follows the liking of O&A and that you decided all on your own to dislike JV and Elvis. However, if that's the case why do you keep posting your negative attitudes about the show in this thread? I mean how many times can you say the same thing over and over?

You don't like JV & Elvis...we get it, so move on. You say that you think it's possible to be an O&A fand and a Doghouse fan, but you're not fans of both. So I once again have to ask why you insist on posting ridiculous ideas...like the one about JV and Elvis being moved to nights. That's pretty funny. About as funny as the current morning show on free fm.

Tony, where are you pulling your ticket numbers for the virus tour? I'm curious.

I didn't say they "sold the venues out". I said they "did very well".

You still didn't answer the question why if the virus tour was such a failure, why the tour is going to be run again this year at double the venues.

Doing a comedy show with multiple comics wasn't exclusively the Doghouse's idea. It's been done for many years at different venues. (Westbury comes to mind, so does the Montreal Comedy festival. Hell, Comic Relief if you want to go back that far.)

In fact, wasn't the name of the show "Doghouse Comedy Jam"? That sounds really original. Speaking of original, who was the headlining act of the Jam? Oh, right. Mencia.

But please, keep harping on the idea that the comedy tour was their idea.

And also, Shoreline has a capacity of 20000. Please tell me where they sold out to a crowd of 35K.

Might want to look at this interesting Google search:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q="DogHouse+Arena"&btnG=Search

Without paying for any naming rights the HP Pavillion/Compaq Center/San Jose Arena was affectionately known as The Dog House Arena for the Dog House's ability to sell this out w/ the Comedy Jam and Boo Bomb concerts.

I beg to differ...it was "named" the Doghouse Arena thru an on-air assault of all the DJs at wild 949 at the time being INSTRUCTED to go along with the Doghouse bit and refer to the SJ Arena in a way that would brand the morning show. Creative, yes. As we all know, listeners will do anything, say anything and act any way the voices in their radio tell them to because "its cool." Same way that a station can play a piece of crap song 100 times a day FORCING listeners to think they like it....

going back to the San Jose Arena, I believe a competing morning show in SF at the time attempted to "name" a venue in Oakland after themselves around the same time....

This is my previous reply to 'Starscream'. Somehow my reply ended up in the quotation, blending in with his/her last reply...

Starscream,

The Dog house was at the Shoreline Amphitheatre and sold it out 25,000+ 2004 Dave Attell, Ralphie May, Frank Caliendo, Aries Spears, Gabriel Iglesias, Shawn Wayans, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier
and Carlos Mencia!

The max fire code there is 22,000.

Also, it was possible for other stations to drop $77,500 (which is what CC did for the DogHouse), promote it on a daily basis bringing the already booked acts and attach their name to a comedy tour as well. They had very little to do with the actual event other than as "promoters".

Also, Carlos Mencia is known as the biggest thief in all of comedy. He has less respect on the comedy circut than Carrot Top. And he was the one guy the Dog House did bring in.

Tony, I understand you are a mouthpiece and the one guy that runs their fan message board, but they are just like Stern, O&A, Mancow, etc. What they say ranges between an exageration to an out and out lie.

Enjoy their show, but realize they have warts.

O&A and Don & Mike are known jerks to many in the business (Stern is actually respected as a decent professional in radio circles). No one. And I mean no one, wants to touch JV & Elvis again in SF because of their attitudes.

Except they got Dave Chappelle to before he got big...And it was over 22,000. The lawn can sit a lot of people. I was there for all but one of the Dog House Comedy James and it was well over 22,000...

They MADE Mencia, and even they admit Mencia is a sell-out and a backstabber as he did the Comedy Jams even after The Dog House left...

And I doubt anyone will agree, but Comedy Jams were unheard of at this magnitude until the Dog House Comedy Jams came. Other markets obviously saw this event as a success so they decided to put it on themselves. JV wanted to make it an annual HBO type special, but had no management backing. Maybe I and others give the Dog House too much credit, but I think some of the haters don't give them enough...

I want to set a few things straight....Yes they did have over 25,000+, the grass is added. No I do not run the fan message board. And CBS was ready to have them on Free FM in SF, but JV did not want it tape delayed. If they did have attitudes in Market 4, they lost them in Market 1. I for one say listen to the show you like the best, or maybe listen to them all if you like them.

All the best

Okay, Tony. Without getting into a point by point and refuting you, let's just say you are the "Super Moderator" for their fan board, which I think says it all.

What does it say? That I like the show? Well I think everyone knows that. Like I have said many times before, everyone is free to listen to whatever they want. So if you like O & A or any other show, listen....Fine with me.....

No, being a moderator means you are one of the people that runs the site, which you just claimed you do not do.

And, if JV & Elvis do not want to be on tape delay, you better have them drop their 5:00 podcasts from kyou
http://www.kyou.com/

Hey, you like the show, and that is fine. Good for you listen and enjoy. My point is you keep posting these things that they say here as truths when they just flat and flat are made up.

They did say they didn't want to be on tape delay on Free-Fm. Plus, it would be a middays slot...

It's news to me they are on KYOU. If so, 5:00 really? I'll tune in...

Hey Doug,

This is open source radio and anyone can send in a podcast....Are you kidding me.....

The numbers are what they are, you can not change them even if you want.....10+ years as the number 1 morning drive show in SF.....I post fact as they had a 25,000+ for the comedy tour and you post the place only had 22,000 seats, and you never answered the fact that the grass seats counted....You are someone that does not like the Dog House, so fine, don't post here..................Get over your self and move one..............Thanks and all the best

I said I did not want to keep saying how each of your points is wrong.

Fire Code is 22,000 at the Shoreline, which means that is the total number of people that can be there. That includes the grass. In fact there is limited regular seating. Most of the seating is on the grass. Over 22,000 the venue gets fined or shut down. So first I'm not going to really get into it over 3,000. But you are just out and out wrong. Again.

You are a moderator on their board. So, no you are not just a fan, you run their board. So, you are wrong again.

They were never #1 in the Bay Area when they were on 97.7. It was only a San Jose station, so not #1 for over a decade. Wrong again.

Even when they had #1 numbers, it was in the 18-34 demo. Granted, their demo. But there were never #1 in the 12+ like you pretend. Ever. Not even close. KCBS and KGO were always #1 and #2 in those numbers. On top of that, they never beat Stern in 25-54. So, let's all chime in. Wrong again.

It really does not matter if I like their show. I'm over 34, so out of their demo. But, like the show or not, I will post when someone is just making up facts.

Doug,

You weren't at the Comedy Jams so just get off of it and leave this thread. I was there for three out of the four, and easily it topped over 22,000...

But, I have worked with the Shoreline for other events. They or their promoter are not legally able to produce more than 22,000 tickets for any event.

So, you have attended a few events there and did a head count to tell the difference between 22,000 to 25,000 people.

I have worked with the Shoreline and Live Nation. Who you going to believe.

And, I'm not saying the event was not a sellout.

The demo for the Dog House is 18-34 male and that is the same for Stern and O & A. That is the demo that they were #1 and that is all that matters. All shows have a demo and that is where the ratings are taken... 12+ has nothing to do with The Dog House....

OK, you can stop with the 22,000 or 25,000, or maybe it was 30,000....IT WAS SOLD OUT. They did it first and everyone knows it.

Wow! You think Stern's demo is/was 18-34? Once again you are wrong.

And Bob Hope invented the massive radio host/comedy tour. So, once again your are ...........

"Stern's Ratings Fall in Many Major Markets "

"For whatever reason, since Stern announced a year ago he was leaving traditional radio for an irresistable $500 million, five-year contract with Sirius, his ratings on the whole have slid in nearly every one of his major markets, according to Arbitron ratings for Stern in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Boston, Detroit and Dallas"

"Even more astounding, Stern’s losses were worse among his target 18-34 year-old audience where his audience share was down in 7 of the 9 top markets. Compared to a year ago, the number of weekly listeners decreased in 7 of top 9 markets. "

You notice what they said, " Target 18-34 year old audience" And again you are wrong.............

And what the hell does Bob Hope have to do with any of this....I said that the Dog House came to New York and wanted to do a Comedy Tour and the next thing you know WFNY is helping O & A do it. The Dog House did it before O & A and that is a FACT... Again you come here with your BS and you are wrong.......

And to O and A's defense, it's not like they copied the Dog House. The concept itself was done so many times before.

The thing is nobody had a comedy tour that year after year packed 22,000 people--and not one person more because of fire codes.

JV wanted to make it an HBO special, but again, management did not back him. Promoters across the country took notice and started it up. Stand-up comedy has been huge the last decade, with shows like Chappelle Show and Mind of Mencia coming out. Coincidentally, those two were at the Dog House Comedy Jams...

I just think it's unfortunate JV doesn't get the credit he deserves...

1) Tony, can you please put up the link for your quote. Stern has not been sold as only an 18-34 year old show in SF nor NY in the last decade. It is funny that you think that 18-34 is so great, when 25-54 is called the "Money Demo" in radio. And you best friends never beat Stern in that demo in SF (never competed in NY). And you bring up them beating O&A when they have never competed against each other in any market ever.

2) Word. I understand that you are a fan. But this is a radio message board. I would never post up stuff about how JV just lies more than any other radio host on his fan board.
