The end of Family radio?

Looks like WFME in New York is on the sale block and I assume any other commercial frequincy is probably going to be sold soon. What about the Non-commercial stations? i.e 90.3 WOTL Toledo.

By the end of the year could would see the end of Harold and his radio network.

My guess is the network will eventually be sold off piece by piece as we are seeing...

(even the non coms..) though that might be interesting as Camping will NOT sell to another religious broadcaster.

Maybe the network WILL be sold off to another religious broadcaster...afterall in light of Harolds health, he may no longer have full control over the business side of things.

I just hope if the stations are sold they won't be falling into the hands of some KJV Only anti-CCM group like the one from Matt's link above (But then I've seen enough to think they're that way as well.) or some dollar a holler outfit. But somehow I don't think they'll be selling to anyone that will do anything that isn't traditional.

The com freqs will go to a mainstream broadcaster... I am sure they will try to sell the non coms to universities for NPR or other non religious programming.. Family will not sell to another relgious broadcaster that does not agree with their theology.

Howard, your mention of WOTL has given me an idea... it could be sold to WGTE and they could make it over as an NPR News/Talk type station, allowing WGTE to become all-classical. Or vice versa, make 91.3 all news/talk and 90.3 all classical (and keep the repeater stations in Bryan, Lima, and Defiance a combo of both). I'd bet WUOM has quite a few listeners in the Toledo area.

Kind of sorry to see this happen, but Family Radio has brought some quality programming to the airwaves over the years, in spite of the predictions of Camping of the end of the world.

Still, I bet EMF, even though it may not be what what Family Radio may want, might pick up a few of the freqs. We'll see what happens. Think EMF has a few bucks in their pockets to pick up a couple of freqs in markets that they are not currently in, if indeed FR sells to other Christian broadcasters.

I am pretty confident EMF has the cash... However I know that FR has in the past not been willing to deal with another Christian broadcaster when it comes to sales (see how they sold their WDC and Philly signals to Mainstream broadcasters.. - both were sold well within the price that EMF could aford)
