The End Of The Road Is Near For Minnesota’s WELY-AM/FM

Adult alternative WELY-FM Ely, MN (94.5) is branded as “End of the Road Radio” and that conclusion is in sight for the station unless a buyer can be found this month.

WELY-FM and talk sister WELY (1450) owner Bois Forte Tribal Council says despite plans to make the stations profitable, it has lost $1.7 million.

“We have been working behind the scenes to find a buyer that could continue operating the station, but our latest plans recently fell through,” Bois Forte Tribal Chair Cathy Chavers said in a news release, North Pine reports. “While we would have preferred to keep the station open in the hopes another buyer would emerge, we needed to move ahead with this decision.”
