The Fan Breaks a blade now playing what kind of music?

Lots of unhappy Sales Staff at the bars tonight. Staff reportedly told "no more sports, hey can you'se guys sell music?"

Where does ESPN end up?

AM-560 WNSR maybe? Back where it was before

Chief/Chuck: I may be banned from the board

for this (and probably should be) but i LOVE "Life is a Rock". Maybe 106.7: ALL "LIFE IS A ROCK" ALL THE TIME!

P.S. Do we know the prospective date?

They're not even stunting yet--still ESPNRadio. I would think gaps in programming in Nashville would include Spanish, maybe True Oldies or TKO... I still wonder about someone taking on 92.9. If for nothing else, to bring them back to the pack.

Thursday is the reported day of the demise of ESPN on "The Fan". Reportedly the account reps keep their jobs but they had been whining they couldn't sell the ESPN programming. Big surprise. The content of ESPN these days is something you should have on in foot locker (in the bathroom).

Having said that Sales reps only like to sell what is #1. Who deosn't? So, if they aren't selling it usually is a programming issue. If it isn't a programming issue it's an Engineering issue. None of those? It's a company issue.

How do things stand with the lawsuit? I thought ABC and the Dickeys lost that case? ABC would have to eat crow to go back to a superior signal. I heard NSR somewhere in Alabama last time I listened.

Here is Tiny Tim Dickey (John)who was the Gm and market Manager that escalated the fiasco? Still working on internet projects?

Coming from a friend inside the building.... It appears that the station will launch as "Praise 106" playing Contemporary Christian on Thursday. Apparently they have been loading music all week. Too bad. Oldies would have been a much better choice...

Waste of a signal...

This has been tried before on a better signal. What will happen to the Blue Raider Sports Network?

Absolutely! You would think they would do something that isn't already being done in Nashville radio, but hey, Cumulus and common sense don't mix! ::)

Meanwhile, this will be their sixth different format since they debuted as "the Planet" in 1998! ::)

Far be it for me to guess what's on the Dickeys' minds,

burt I took a quick tour of Cumulus-owned stations and found only 1 more Gospel station in their portfolio. Of course, they did format 1560 that way, but it was an AM. They have several with True Oldies. Why wouldn't they try that? Or Spanish?

As of 09:23 A.M. on 7/29/2009, the sounds of a construction site are in the background, with a voiceover saying, "This is the sound of the construction of a new radio station. Set your preset now, as of 1:06 P.M. July 30th, there will be a new radio station". . .or something to that effect.

One can hear a 'foreman' in the background telling people to be careful. . .

Waiting to hear, "Okay, hoist that 3-bay Jampro gently guys, grab that tagline, you idiot! Wait...no WAIT....STOP...ARGH..NOOOOOOOOO! *crash*...."

I thought WAY-FM had a foothold in the Contemporary Christian market (even though they are non-commercial)?

hey you guys are being too tough on Cumulus...look how well they did with CCM in Indianapolis!
oh wait...never mind. Seems to me if the format didn't work on a very good signal (101.1) with
a good effort and talent behind it...
and BTW...nice work on the construction sounds loop: very innovative and original. ???

I'd love to see "Star" back...it should have been a great station but I certainly wouldn't put it back in THEIR hands...

Hot AC and a good smattering of 80's/90's...Seacrest middays (I know, I know, but...demographically it would be a great fit).

I can't imagine not doing some form of either that, or Spanish/Regional Mex if I'm them. Thankfully, I'm not.

I would to love to know their logic.... Salem is great with the FISH on two FM's and Way's Symposium/Consortium numbers are huge for a Non-Com (though not to be used for underwriting and public distribution, just inside research and general summations)....And on a very 'ify' signal... If it were 1992, when it was just WNAZ in town (Light AC-Christian then) and Way-Fm (CHR-Christian) in the burbs with no northeast metro signal, then they'd find some wedge with a central signal (though Class "A"?)... But, 101.1 had a monster signal...They had talent and pro sales people....Good ratings in the commercial listings....But, they could not sell enough to please the 'CC' brass and went with their current high ranking urban format... I don't think I'd try to roll dice with Salem and Way covering the majority of the metro population... Good luck and God speed John Glenn....

Bott Radio did the same thing 4 or 5 years ago when they took over 1160 AM from WAMB and changed to Christian Talk Radio a few days later. When I first heard the construction sounds in the background this morning, that was the first format I thought of, they were going either Christian Talk or Christian Comtemporary. Doesn't sound very inventive to me.

go to Google and type in "sarcasm"...that's what I was trying for
(and up until now, I thought I was pretty good at it, too)
