The Fan Breaks a blade now playing what kind of music?

Wasn't deregulation supposed to bring MORE diversity in formats to the radio? A THIRD CHR for Nashville, Cumulus?

Hey, would you prefer a third CCM station, as originally rumored?

Didn't the River actually finish first place 12+ a little while ago? It's things like that that likely shaped Cumulus' direction for 106.7 FM, I think.

Reply to 106.7 formats - You won't believe this, but...

one night I was driving into town on Ellington Parkway (this was when WAMB was simulcasting; it might have been just before the Planet, which I loved, by the way), and 106.7 was playing some serious classic rock, somewhere between 105.9 and 102.9. It was loud. (Maybe that was just my volume knob.) I called WAMB, and a VERY DEEP VOICE man answered. My question: "Will you keep playing this format?" His answer: "Uh...no." Click.

How many formats did 104.5 have between KX-104 and The Zone? Keep trying till one makes it....

Shadow, 104.5 used different slogans for practically the same music. They went Fox, Arrow and 104 The Core which were all variations of classic rock. Then there were classic hits Hot 104.5 (very few days they identified as that) and Groovin' Hits 104.5 before change to current sports talk. I use same disclaimer as 106.7, where something on this list may have been unintentionally excluded.

If it is "reported" then it isn't a rumor or wild speculation. RI has been running the story which could easily be confirmed yet reporting it as a "rumor".

Thanks for the acknowledgement RI.

lets say one of you hit the powerball and bought an fm in town..got enough money to just play what you want without needing to worry about a payroll...or some clueless twit in a suit telling you what to do...no stockholders to please or pay dividends to..just you the owner...WHAT would you format ?? not a trick question..just want to see where all the heads are ..so to speak..

If money and overhead were not issues, I would go with a hybrid format of former SM95 and 94.1 The Phoenix. Ratings would likely be in the tank, but these stations played good music.

personally under the perimeters i set...i'd rather go for number one in the market..versus billing $$$$$$$...but then again..under my ideal world..money was no object..remember your programing what you feel you audience wants...not the consultants...now..what demo are you all shooting for...remember..money is not the object here..just ratings

My female target demo would be Mix and aerobics country listeners who play it safe in music choices, but would listen to a favorite artist's wider library. The total adult contemporary experience...yeah, that's it.

Male target demo would be older, probably college educated, professional who are somewhere between "Hey y'all I just wanna let all the Zone listeners know I am the biggest Titans fan ever," and not quite committing to 92.9. Play cool, palatable, good music without being pretentious, but not as bad as "Stuff White People Like" list.

You're on the right track, but I'd narrow that down a bit to say Nashville, the Music City, needs a good Americana / Alt Country station. The kind of station that would play Chris Knight, the Duhks, Donna the Buffalo, and then be the first to slap on John Fogerty's new Blue Ridge Rangers album — all the while leaving the commercial country for the other guys. Sure, Lightning plays some of that stuff, but it takes too long for the rotation to get back to it.

And another thing, radio shows that originate here should be heard here. Like why doesn't Citadel have KDF be the flagship for GAC Nights? And what about the programming being produced here by Cool Broadcasting? Need to hear that here as well.
