The Fan reapplies for more power (but will anybody listen?)

According to this morning's Radio Journal, the FCC is reconsidering a power increase to C3 for The Fan. Originally, it was denied because it would have created a short-spacing between WTN and an app from Eva, AL. Apparently, that's been fixed so the FCC is reconsidering.

To make this work, WTHX in Lebanon Junction, KY would move from 107.3A to 99.3A. WKMO in Hodgeville, KY would move from 106.3A to 107.3A. Then, WHHT in Horse Cave, KY would go from 106.7A to 106.5A - freeing The Fan to move from 106.7A Belle Meade to 106.7C3 Millersville.

To quote Romer, wait...there's more!

To maintain local service, WRQQ would move from Goodlettsville to Belle Meade, WQQK from Hendersonville to Goodlettsville, and WWTN from Manchester to Hendersonville. WWTN would become a C0. This involves the moving and/or downgrading of two more KY stations - WAKY and WLSK.

Wow! This will be the second change in a year for WLSK in Lebanon, considering that they are also involved in another major move which will bring a station in East-central Indiana into the Cincinnati market, which is causing a slew of frequency changes and downgrades in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. I could be wrong, but I think WTHX is also involved in the frequency tapdancing up there as well.

The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many - or - the tail wags the dog.

Then they will ask the FCC to have any station that is playing country music to stop. Wile they are at it get all talk stations to start playing polka music and any group that is selling spots to give them half of the money. Oh and one more thing could football stop taking up all the sports talk in Nashville? See we told the Predators people we would "talk all Peds all the time" on not only the Fan but all the stations in the cluster.. oh and all of the Nashville stations for that matter. Oh oh and just one more thing...just one little thing...Can you get George Plaster to take our calls? Seems like he is still mad at us...gee get over it and move on...

The FCC might OK it, but to quote another Romer saying: "You're not a lawyer are you?"

There are so many stations and owners involved this could take years or decades to accomplish. I imagine a few legal eagles will have some objections.

The 107.3 frequency isn't very old. It's only been there a short time. Commonwealth Broadcasting owns 106.3, 107.3 and 106.7 in this fold, maybe more. I suspect they're trying to improve their position in all of this as well.
