The Flamethrowers - CBC podcast on the history of right-wing talk radio

Here's a must-listen podcast series for anyone interested in the history of American political talk radio, which is hopefully most members of this discussion site.

While it may rile up some haters, it's very well researched, written, and presented with some fascinating clips dating back to radio's beginnings. Produced by Canada's CBC Radio, with the interesting perspective of an outsider looking in.

Link is in this article, worth a read before you dig in.

Radio World magazine did a feature back in 2018 about the "Rabble Rousers of Early Radio Broadcasting", with stories about broadcasters who pushed the envelope to the point where they found themselves in hot water, either with the FCC or otherwise. Most appear to have been conservative talkers. This Radio World piece also mentions the same Father Coughlin who's mentioned in the CBC article in the link in the OP above.
