The Format Shuffle has begun with 1570 "The Club"... or is it Oldies?

Earlier today, 1570 was playing all Michael Jackson, calling the station "THE GLOVE" (Get It?). Around 5 P.M. they changed to the "Kool Oldies" satellite service.
And once again 1570 is being simulcast on WTSZ 1600.But at 6 P.M. only the WNDA 1570 I.D. was given.

These are signals with a niche in front of their radio face, yet they try to be what they can't be.... 1600 should be 'mom and pop' east metro (La Grange-PeeWeeValley-Crestwood) local info, cheap rates and the whole thing of the past... Swap-Shop, Dog-Gone Reports and localism... And 1570 needs to see what is the local yokle in Clark & Floyd Counties want... Be loyal to those who live under the tower...... Be like "Steak & Shake".....From those backyards: Towers "In Sight, It Must Be Right!"

The glove? LOL well it sounded like "The club" to me.

I was listening last night about 8:45pm EDT and when I heard "Montego Bay" on an AM station I knew something was up. I like music on AM Radio but I am weird. I just hope it isn't the end of Rocky's program in the morning as I liked it being local and all.

I agree AM 1570 and AM 1600 need to serve their licensed communities. I remember the tornado that ripped through Eminence, KY in Spring 2004 and one resident mentioned there wasn't a local radio outlet available for information concerning shelter locations, etc. Henry and Oldham Counties are well populated for a local radio outlet. WHAS doesn't cover these counties as much. AM 1600 covers the area well and needs to serve these communities. The oldies format is a good filler for AM 1570. Oldies AMs, with a local community emphasis, have been doing well in other Southern Indiana communities like WOCC-AM in Corydon, WXGO-AM in Madison and WZZB-AM in Seymour. AM 1570 needs to focus on the large population of Clark and Floyd Counties in Southern Indiana and keep the Indiana News Network as well. WHAS focus is Louisville and Kentucky government news with very little Southern Indiana information.

"WHAS focus is Louisville and Kentucky government news with very little Southern Indiana information."

Everything is that way. Indiana might as well not exist. Everything sports wise is Ula K or Ula Smell. Nothing else is ever mentioned around here. Another reason I gave up on terrestrial radio in 2005 for XM. At least there I can choose what teams I listen to, although the music variety has gone down the toilet after the Sirius takeover...but that is for the Sirius/XM board.

I've got no problem with the Oldies format...but it sounds to me like they should tweak their processing to be more music-friendly. I also agree wth the idea that they should skew content towards the five Indiana counties of the Louisville Metropolitan Area.

The Smith Brothers in Floyd County, they own a LPTV, wanted to buy 1450 at one time and do that... Strickly Floyd, Clark, Henry and Southern Jefferson Counties.....

Well who do you think owns 1570?

....Dem' same boys I had lunch with a few years back at Tumbleweeds off Charleston Road... They were looking for a T-1 hook and link from different locations to the LPTV tower... Wonder why they did not follow through with the total local approach with Indiana-1570???? Bum-dee-bum-bum.... Curiosity fills our minds.. Kind of liked the guys and wished they'd called me to help.... I was with a software/digital provider, at the time...

Doesn't Pete Boyce own it?

The Smith Brothers (John W., Jr. and David) are truly good people, as was their dad, the late John W., Sr. They run their broadcast operations strictly by the book and don't cut corners.

Been listening to Rocky Knight this week and he's got a nice show going there. Good music and very topical conversation between songs.
