The "Fridays" Andy Kaufman brawl from 1981 video is on You Tube

I think this was referenced in "Man In The Moon" (1999) with Jim Carrey.

This is from the web site www.imdb.com:

During one memorable episode, broadcast live, guest star Andy Kaufman broke character during a sketch. He got into a shoving match with Michael Richards which degenerated into an on-camera brawl. It was later revealed that this was a set-up and Kaufman and some of the brawl participants were in on the gag, but most of the cast and crew were caught completely off-guard.

I remember really enjoying Fridays when it was on the air...but after watching this video all these years later, I'm not so sure I can trust my memory anymore!

As I read, in that episode, Andy wasn't on his best behavior at all that night -- practically wrecking almost every sketch and even going too long on his opening monologue -- which began before the show started.

But of course, it may have been all a set-up, just like the final sketch that night.

...it was Jack Burns who Kaufman got into the shoving match with, not Richards (who had walked off the set after the sketch broke down)...

...come to think of it. everybody remembers Kaufman, but who the hell recalls Burns without Avery Schreiber in front of him? ;-) ...
