The future of Clear Channel on the Mississippi Coast

I HEAR CHUCK ON ALOT OF COMMERCIALS , SO HE MUST STILL BE AT CC. MAYBE CHUCK COULD REPLACE BOB DEEVER? CHUCK ALWAY'S HAD GREAT RADIO SHOWS. AND HE WAS A REALLY NICE GUY TOO. I MEET HIM AT A CONCERT AND HE WASNT LIKE THAT JERK BOB. I HAVE A K99 LINE UP FOR YEA

MORNING'S-KIP GREGORY AND KIM DIAMOND
MID DAY-CHUCK EDWARDS
AFTERNOON-WEIRD WAYNE
NIGHTS-ROBERT JAMES

NOW THAT WOULD BE A GOOD STAFF. TXBIGHAT WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Chuck is awesome and I believe is Prod Dir. over there now. Thanks for the thumbs up but I don't paticularly get along with country. Like to died when I had to do it one day on US98 just before we put 'CPR on in '95.

BTW Howie this is Bob Dever (no I was not cut in the budget but I did let a few ppl go for the budget puposes) and I am sorry that you feel like I don't like my job but let me tell you I love it. Plus K-99.1 has never had a better book than it has since I have been here for the 2 yrs and the last book for afternoons beat our competition better than it ever did with Kipp on the air. I have been in the business for over 25 yrs in major markets in Texas (ie Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Corpus Christi) and I was also on 20 different radio stations around the country with Star System in major shifts in every market that I have worked in. So Someone must like me or they wouldn't have kept me on for so long, but I see your not in the business anymore so that tells me something, don't be so critical if your not in the business anymore. Robert James QUIT because he could not handle direction and it was his choice.

Yes Chuck is our Production Director and he does not want a fulltime shift, and for anyone else yes that is the Kim Diamond from the Twister in Dallas.

Robert was also a fish out of water doing country and news. Robert James takes direction great and is doing fine...otherwise he wouldn't have been given our morning shift...he will enjoy and be successful doing Classic Rock/Hits where he belongs. I don't understand why there are those who feel it necessary to personally slam others on this board. Shame shame...can't we all just get along? And this is from someone who has been in the business almost 32 years...20 in New Orleans (I believe that too is considered a major market), but only 6 stations under my belt. I stay where I'm at for a long time...Happy New Year! Make a resolution to be positive and happy!

Wayne I agree with you totally about ppl getting slammed on here. Let's use this board for more constuctive stuff. I am glad that Robert is doing well there yes Classic Rock is his deal he had to much on his plate across the street.

Hello from Upstate South Carolina:

Happy New Year to you too, Wayne!!!

Paul Walker

P.S. Can the person who typed in all caps, please stop? I'm sorry, it's plain annoying and in internet rules, that's the same thing as screaming in my face.

If Triad/Mississippi Media were to pick up K99, things would get interesting. They could then combo K99 (Hot Current Country) with 96.7 (Classic Country) to "tag team" 107.9.

BTW, this board is a church picnic compared to some others I am on. Up here, we have a local Minnesota board where rival jocks are posting personal cell numbers, license plate numbers, intimate details of personal lives, etc. Real classy folks.

BOB- DID NOT MEAN TO HURT YOUR FEELING'S. I SURE SOME PEOPLE THINK YOUR GREAT. I JUSTDO NOT ENJOY YOUR SHOW, SO I DON'T LISTEN. I ENJOY KICKER DURING THAT TIME. I AM SURE THERE ARE SOME DJ'S YOU DON'T ENJOY.

You didn't hurt my feelings it would take more than that to hurt my feelings, and I am sorry that you don't like my show. And yes there are alot of announcers that I don't like, but I would never go on a site like this and say that about them, I would much rather you call me and we discuss it. Who knows you might just give me some ideas in changing some things about my show, everybody can always use constructive critism.
So call me and lets talk about it 228-388-2323. I look forward to hearing from you.

Wow... looks like SOMEBODY has a thin skin, Bob.

20 stations in 25 years? That's a pretty fast rotation. That tells me that you're either racking up frequent-flyer miles, or you keep getting FIRED. And why would someone with such a successful history as yours feel the need to practically list your resume' on this board?

By the way, I have heard of Program Director, Music Director, titles like that. What the Hell is a "Listener Advocate"?!? Is that something you just made up to make yourself seem important? If you are making up your own titles, what else about yourself are you making up?

Hey Wayne, when is Robert doing another remote? I would LOVE to get his side of the story about him leaving CC. I've met Robert, and he didn't seem like a guy who "couldn't handle it".

star system was clear channels way of voice tracking from studios that they had built in austin texas before they decided to go back to the local stations. and the 20 was over a 3yr period all out of one facility in austin via voice tracking. and listener advocate is cc's new name for a pd. I don't have thin skin it doesn't bother me that you don't like me if that is how you feel that is your choice.

Robert was doing afternoons for me and we asked him to do production when we moved chuck to news. He was having a problem doing his shift in the afternoon and production at the same time he was not focused and we getting distracted and in turn his show was failing and so was the production. it was at that point that he decided to quit and seek other employment and the om accepted his resignation.

Have a happy and prosperous 2007.

I've never met Robert James but I've heard nothing but positive things about him.

I've been both an on-air production director and an off-air production director. I can tell you that, at least in my experience, you can't do an airshift and be production director without one or both of those tasks falling short. Some may disagree but in my experience it can't be done. In New Orleans I geve up the production director position when I went to mornings on WTKL. That was a 2-station shop. With most shops having more stations than that (CC Biloxi, my latest place of employment, has 4) the position of Production Director has to be a full-time deal. I can't fault anyone for trying to do both and failing. In a one station stand-alone situation it can be done but in this age of consolidation something has to give. You have too few people doing too many jobs. That's the reality of radio today.

I have nothing bad at all to say about anyone at CC Biloxi. I was a budget casualty. It's my understanding that the decision came from CC corporate, not CC Biloxi. I'd go back tomorrow if there was a place for me there.

Maybe middays on K99... Hmmm............................... ;)

That would work Don. And sorry to hear about your job.I guess CC would rather keep dead weight around.

Just FYI for all of you inquring minds that want to know. You will notice that Biloxi is not on the list.

Thanks Dever, but that's very old news.

Smashed... Thanks. Man, I've been doing this more on than off for almost 30 years and I've been through this way more than once. It doesn't bother me. Of all the times I've been asked to leave, either for no reason or for something that was my fault, only one time still puzzles me. Larry Lujack said in his book, Super Jock, that you're not worth a crap until you've been fired three times. This ain't my first rodeo and it won't be my last.

No new news, I was just going thru email deleting things and came across that and thought I would share it in case someone has not seen it.
