On the Boston Board , alot of posters said that Boston need a second CHR/R or Urban station ( http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,87768.0.html CBS should Flip WBCN or WZLX to CHR/R or Urban ) If Boston get a second Hip Hop Station or Urban station( Thats a Big If ) , can Hot 106 in Providence survive ? Former Urban WILD/WBOT station signal was weak in Providence , When Radio One move the signal to The Blue hills .

Hot 106 has worse things to worry about than similar formats in Boston like the PPM in 2010

Joey Bells....JOEY BELLS...It's Christmas time in the Unemployment Line.....

Time to grow the hair back, and get a REAL JOB....

Props or no props....

Hot 106 has no signal impact in Boston and it's only considered a Providence station due to it's stick in Cumberland. The station is actually licensed to Woonsocket.
RI stations are it main competition.

Gary, think you missed the point...what it is saying is if there is another Boston station, can Hot 106 survive here in Providence, seeing as JMN's signal pervaids the metro pretty good here

Hot 106 can certainly survive but a more interesting question might be what would YOU do with it? If Hot 106 were YOUR station, what format would you program and why?

Do you understand The Question ? Will Hot 106 stay CHR/R Format, if Boston get a second CHR/R ( or Urban ) station ?

I would like to see thHOT format move to 99.7.
Main reason to compete with John Fuller's 107.7 on the beaches.

Switch 106.3 o a smooth Jazz format.

I wish The Owners of Hot 106 would had purchase 103.7 ( when this signal was on sale ) . Hot 103.7 signal all over R.I and eastern CT and southern MA ( sell off 106.3 ) . Hot 103.7 would had knock off Jamming 107.7 .

At the time, there were different regulations re ownership and that would have put Telemedia WAAAAAYYYYY over what was allowed at the time in terms of market share

Telemedia? Citadel's been around for probably almost 10 years, haven't they? Entercom bought 103.7 back in 2004, I think.

Wasn't sure which time they were up for sale you meant....I still think the acquisition would be over the current regulations
