The Glenn Beck - Bonneville - Mitt Romney conspiracy theory

L

Guest
LDS-owned Bonneville plugged in Glenn Beck on their stations because he supports Mitt Romney, a Mormon. :eek:

Botched surgeries won't be the only thing Beck'll worry about if Romney gets knocked off in New Hampshire. :p

So much for that five-year, $50 mil. radio deal! :'(

How about you cut out the middleman - LDS put Beck on because HE's LDS. He just moved over to Bonneville's 3WT in DC, too. Maybe he met with BI's board of directors in the sealing room at his local temple.

??? ::) :-[

Great point, KJCB: Beck was born Roman Catholic, then converted to Mormonism. ::)

Let's see how long Dreck lasts on the air Monday! ;)

In 6 years with Bonneville, I never once saw or heard of any direct LDS influence. I'd be surprised if that's why Beck is on KTAR.

You're right, Kevin; BI does instill certain corporate values, like treating their employees well, which seems to me to be a good loyalty strategy anyway. It would appear the Birdie has a problem with the LDS faith. If I'm wrong, my apologies.

Even with my criticisms of the Master Blogger and some of his questionable moves at KT'R, I would be happy to work for Bonneville International. Great company.

You've obviously never heard of KSL radio/television and seen their ratings. Bonneville is a great company. I'm unable to explain what they are doing with KTAR and the Master Blogger, but an otherwise great company.

So let's get this straight: everyone hates it when radio companies fire people, cut budgets, and pinch pennies, but when they're "spendthrift", that's bad, too?

To answer your question: YES! A company that is a money wasting empire like Bonneville did with the Phoenix cluster (namely KTAR) will soon find themselves cutting budgets, firing people and becoming ClearChannel right before your eyes.

So, indeed, spending too much is just as obnoxious as spending too little; making smart business decisions, while taking small risks and securing what you have in the market is the far superior strategy. Bonneville took a MASSIVE risk with moving a heritage station to FM, turning over many employees/shows, inconsistent programming and the amount of money spent... yikes. Had the Bonneville gamble paid off, it would have been phenomenal, but to this point it has been a disappointment.

Pertaining to Bonneville and their spending. They brought in Michael Castner from LA and started the "Nightside Project" back in Late 06. I believe Castner was let go in November 07 due to budgetary concerns as a "business decision." The show brought in really good ratings, but didn't bill well; evidently. Wonder if this is telling at all for the future of KTAR?
