The great Wave/KOST fight of the 2010s rages on!!!

I dont want the station to flip either but it was kinda scary when Smooth Jazz stations were dropping like flys accross the U.S. in the mid 2000's The rumors were flying that KTWV would flip but not source could prove it.

I agree with you; wasn't KTWV 'rebuilt' several years ago after that disastrous decision to place two very talkative females in AM drive resulted in their ratings going off the cliff for the entire lineup?

The only real significant decrease in ratings occurred when the market switched from the diary to the PPM in Summer 2008.

The station was undergoing gradual 25-54 erosion going back to the early part of the decade, although the last year (spring of 2007 to spring of 2008) was a little more extreme. Also, the morning show had a stable relationship to the overall station except that last year, where mornings vs. the overall station were more separate; that format did not do particularly well in mornings anyway.

The change to PPM was what killed the format in LA and nearly everywhere else as the new system was rolled out in the top 48 markets.

On the subject of stations battling the dreaded 'aging audience syndrome', has KKGO made any progress in the past 12-24 months in 'getting younger?'
