The Irrevelance of National News

Yes, the USA gubmint should, and is, paying attention. But what Morsi was saying was of no consequence. He was just giving a repetition of his talking points just as our politicians do. It was not news.
You said earlier in this thread it was news, but NBC didn't give it enough airtime, and therefore it wasn't relevant. ???

I said Morsi repeated his earlier talking points (concerning his assumption of more power) and therefore, because it was a repeat, it was not news.

The only difference is the USA's vested interest in the existence of Israel and the world's supply of oil.

Not too mention the 2nd coming of Jesus, which could be any day now.
Both of you forgot THE END OF THE WORLD too. Isn't that supposed to happen near the end of THS YEAR ?? Yeah right ::)

I say seeing is believing about all these things.....

Cheers & 73 :D

I would personally rather sit through a half hour of world and national news, even on a slow news day,
than the HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS of repetitive local news thrown at me by our
local stations.

I told a news director years ago that not enough legitimate news happens in Pittsburgh to fill a full
hour every day. But the amount of time devoted to local news since then has exploded by an order
of magnitude.

As Americans we are far too insular in looking at what goes on in the rest of the world IMHO.

If you want to know what is going on in the world, watch the BBC. They actually report on world news. If you want to know what Britney Spears is wearing or other nonsense, what our morning news shows.
