Because this show on a big station in a smaller market influenced both country music and rock 'n roll, I thought this was a "national" subject. This is a fascinating read from History.com:

IIRC...Kenny Price --- one of the "Hee-Haw" cast --- was a "Hayride" member.....
Didn't WLW carry the original show, too?

Lol this may sound wild. But I was the last DJ on that station when it was classic country, that Sunday night, before kwkh flipped to fox sports the next morning. It was literally 10 years ago this month. It was the most fun I had ever working in media (radio and tv). I’ll never forget when the OM wanted to flip it. We were all so confused. I know heritage doesnt matter. But the sports format is literally bullying worse than that it was classic country. It was a really cool station. I was in my mid-20s when I was there. But we still played 40s-50s country in the 2010s

They stole the idea and called theirs the Midwestern Hayride.
Indeed! There were a number of Hayride copies or imitations, and a whole bunch more called the "Somethingorother Barn Dance" such as the ones on WHO and WLS in the day.
