The Most Played Songs This Week On Power Hits 97.5 Salina-Manhattan

The Poweers get no more then 51 spins per week, there's planety of new music being played, plenty of so called stiffs, and there's another CHR/Pop station in the market called Z-96.3. So how does this station end up doing in the ratings? It's currently NUMBER ONE in its market proving to the so called CHR "pros" on this board that not all CHRs sound the same, let alone those in smaller markets.

Thought you had a plane to catch and weren't gonna be around this weekend? Hmmmmmmmm??? The depths you'll go to while trying to prove a point. Another poor example...going from 5th to 1st for the first time ever doesn't show a thing nor lend any credibility to your argument. This station is another trainwreck example of bad CHR...it's a dance station mostly that caters to college kids.

F for you...

Luvcoors, do you even understand the flaws of Arbitron? Stations move around a bit in smaller markets because there are less diaries thus less accuracy. I haven't heard the station nor have a clue about the market, but it's one thing to keep in mind.

For example the active rock in Fargo, North Dakota was #3 with women 35-64. Just some good luck for that station in the last book. The oldies station in the same market once was #2 in men 18-34 after the said active rock station! And yet these obviously flawed numbers are used as a crutch by those "favored" by book placement and by agencies incapable of making an independent decision based on common sense.

I'm not sure if this post gave Chrles more or less credibility LOL

I love how people look at a stations playlist and judge them as good or bad! Radio is a business and looking at a playlist on MediaBase 24/7 or a stations website doesn't tell the whole story. If the station is a dance station that caters to college kids...and is profitable, then what's wrong with that? If the stations advertiseres are happy with their return on investment and keep coming back to the station, what's wrong with that? Other than you calling it a trainwreck station, of course?

LOL, I'm being graded now? For posting the playlist of a number one rated station?
KJCK has been doing CHR for a long time now. I'm sure getting graded by luvcoors isn't keeping anyone over there awake at night :D

OK ladies...first of all, no one needs to explain flaws of Arbitron to me...we all know it too well. But you made my point, how does one fluke book at #1 put someone's station in the definition of being the best or a consistent market leader? It doesn't!

Mr. Mic...you're right and have a point to an extent. If they are doing mostly dance, making money, etc....then it's fine. But you and Les missed the point...you can't compare a mainly dance CHR to a somewhat mainstream CHR in this discussion. It's like saying melted Velveeta is the same kinda appetizer as caviar. It's like saying some Class A minor league baseball team that's won it's league for 7 of the last 10 years is a better team than the Yankees teams that won 4 WS in the last 12 years.

For the record...no one is EVER favored with book placement since Arb evens it out in a 3 months sample...wink wink

I guess my point was about the broad comparison of a "good vs. bad" station more than the comparison of a mainstream to a dance leaning CHR, sorry, I wasn't clear. But I do see your point there.

By the way, being from Boston, I'd prefer using the Sox having won 2 of the last 4 WS vs the Yankees having won 4 of 12!! ;)

This is an awesome station, I used to listen to it along I-70 on the way to Denver,,, they used to be on 94.5 as Power 94.5,, then changed names to BIG KAT 94.5,,,Eventually they moved to the current 97.5 and changed names back to Power Hits... This station has a big Flame Thrower signal, Ive picked it up way into Missouri, past Kansas City and all that. According to Wikipedia, this is the highest powered station in all of Kansas. Also, I dont think its fair to say its just a Dance Station simply because they play SOME dance once in awhile. In fact I only see one Dance song on their playlist, the one from Jenna Drey, the rest is POP/Dance, which is very big at CHR right now, sometimes my station is 50 percent Dance/Pop, and we are definately CHR. In fact this station reminds me alot of mine with the low number of spins,,, Actually my station plays more Dance than this station,,, But Im not adding Jenna Drey unless it blows up, I think the song is crap.

Those calls have been there for as long as I remember, but they did change their name, and changed frequencys a few times, but if you ever been to Junction City Kanasa,,, prob one of the most Boring places on earth. It is really nothing but wheat fields and pure flat Terraine.
