The clip:

NEW YORK - January 5 - The Nation and Air America Radio announced today that beginning Saturday, January 7, they will launch "RadioNation With Laura Flanders," hosted by author, activist and award-winning radio personality Laura Flanders. The show will be sponsored by The Nation magazine, America's most widely read weekly magazine of politics and culture.

Broadcasting each Saturday and Sunday evening from 7:00 to 10:00pm EST, "RadioNation with Laura Flanders" will feature news and programming from around the country, in-depth interviews, special remote broadcasts, a weekly journalists roundtable, as well as exclusive conversations with Nation writers and Nation Institute journalism fellows, Saturday night artists performing live, and coverage of Nation events. All with the cutting-edge political and cultural commentary Flanders is known for -- live, with callers! The show will also be available for listening online.

I'm glad Laura is getting more press, she has been doing a stand up excellent show on the weekends that I doubt had gotten a lot of notice...im taken with her passion on Katrina, of course, but she is topical and current and strong on so many issues. Im glad the Nation is giving Laura a well deserved boost on AAR.

I was trying to catch her show via improvised podcasts found on web but now that I have an Pioneer XM device, i can store her show....podcasts will be available as well as an abbreviated version of the show as well....

For once, good things do come to those who toil in the wilderness for so long....if you haven't tried her show....or listen to her sub for some AAR hosts...you got a treat coming

Yes, I do like Laura Flanders. I'm glad she's raising her profile. Too bad AAR was so slow to come to their senses, I have a feeling it's hurt their self image.
______________

...Laura Flanders has been a class act in the too-often cutthroat Pacifica/"community" public radio vineyards for years. She does better air work than Amy Goodman and not enough of the AAR affiliates have taken her weekend show up until now. Hopefully this push from the AAR brass will crack loose some of those passed over markets...
______________
