The New Landscape of Radio in NWA

Well with Clear Channel set of layoffs, this will set a new landscape for radio in NWA. Wonder who will be let go from the Clear Channel stations here. You have that over at Clear Channel and the you have Butler Braodcasting employees wondering if their checks will clear the bank. How crazy is that?

It's a tough time for everyone. Let's hope that as profitable as CC-Fayetteville is, that the budget axe will be kind to those who are currently working. They've got a really nice operation over there and I hate to see anyone without a job. We've all been there... :(

Media Mogul - I agree. I feel for anyone who has lost there job recently anywhere in the country no matter what company it was from. I wish one of these companies would see the value in local programming and put some effort into developing the talent they have rather than just cut them out of the budget and not replace them.

The X is the only NWA station now with a staff big enough to be agressive on the streets. Most of the Cumulus PD's I've noticed are the only live jocks on the station. The only cost cutting measure I could see CC doing here in NWA withing the programming department is reduce morning shows down to one person (no teams) and/or have PD's do 2 or more stations. They are so thin as it is now there isn't a lot to cut.

Did CC/Fayetteville make it through the storm unaffected? I don't see them listed in the trades at all.

Lowepower, I was just wondering the samething. Everything sounded the same on all the stations today. I am suprised that Magic 107.9 does not syndicate Sam Dean and Jody, (I hope I have the names right). They are a synicated AC morning show. I am wonering if that will show up here in Northwest Araknsas. I hope the current morning team does not loose their jobs, but I am just saying that morning show is on in serveral AC markets. Maybe there will be no more cuts here in NWA.

It appears that either a. everybody, as far as programming, weathered the storm or b. Friday after the shift some may be parting ways...of there are no names that pop up around COB...then WOW! :)

I'll say again, CC's Miller Kaplan looks amazing and Tony B. may have some footage of something that looks like this

he has a way of getting what he wants...

ps mm and lp...i agree with you both!

Actually I'm guessing no one from CC/NWA was let go, because there is no CC in NWA. That cluster was bought by GoodRadio.TV LLC when CC was going private. A blessing in disguise...

Wrong. The entire Goodradio deal fell apart long ago.

this is true robs...i think that all fell through sometime circa fall '07...good to see that no one got blown away at CC tho.
