The "New" Sound Of WBMW?

I admit that I have not sampled WBMW that often since after they ended their Christmas music period - either that, or after they let Glenn O'Brien go... anyway, let's just say it's been a very long time since I've heard the station.

Tuned in earlier this week and heard their new TOH jingle. A different sound, far from the "over the top AC" approach they've been using all these years. Also, during jock talk breaks, there is considerably less of an echo. Anyone else heard this?

I am still wondering: In who's ratings are they (106.5 WBMW) #1? Because they are not in the Arbitron ratings.

When Fuller says #1, he's talking about the Archer Research numbers he has done. I have a picture of his billboard once that says "#1 in the ratings!" with a disclaimer at the bottom that says "archer research fall 2006"

Somebody in the market doesn't subscribe to the numbers... I think it might be Hall, but I'm not sure.

When I DXed WBMW 2 days ago I noticed their audio processing was heavy, similar to Jammin' 107.7. Unfortunately they still have that god-awful Delilah at night so I didn't get to sample their regular playlist.

I noticed that the DJ's no longer say they are "#1 in the ratings" during jock breaks like they used to - at least while I sampled WBMW this week.

Also, I agree with Nick's thoughts that the processing has sounded different than when I last heard it.

It seems that they are having some personnel issues over there. The production and promotions directors have both voluntarily quit during the past week.

That company has a bigger "turnover" than any other company. Pretty sure 5 onair personalities have all left in the past year throughout their cluster of stations. Not a good look. Clearly not #1 in employee relationships.
