Hello Radio Industry, Fans, and Observers: ;D

Atlanta's newest morning show, "The Ricky Smiley Show" made its debut this morning on Hot 107.9. What are your thoughts? What effect will it have on the other Morning shows in ATL, particularly in Urban Radio? I checked out some of it, and I must say I enjoyed. I really enjoy the beginning of the show because he starts out with about 15 minutes of Gospel Music. I find him entertaining, funny, and easy to relate to. It's nice to have another option for ATL Urban radio in the mornings. I still listen to Tom Joyner and Frank Ski, but this additional option is wonderful. Congratulations 107.9.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the enitre show, but from what I heard not bad. I must say its so obvious that he's not live here in ATL. Maybe after a couple of weeks, Hegwood will work out the kinks.

The playlist and format sounds horrible! I hate to say that this is one of the WORST Morning shows that I have EVER heard in my many years in radio. This is just my opinion. But, I really wonder HOW this stuff EVER got on the air! Listening to this show is like entering the fiery pits of hell!!! In my own humble opinion. of course!

Excuse me, but not every station can be oldies. Rickey Smiley is being picked up by urban contemporary stations in a lot of markets across the U.S. I hear that some major PD's consider the show compelling.

I would just like to hear some opinions on how good Smiley's show is versus Big Boy's Neighborhood, which went into syndication a year ago.

Rickey Smiley seems to be adding more markets lately. Sure HOT 107.9 could've went with Big Boy, but I haven't heard a lot of positive feedback about his show. Miami,FL and Detroit,MI are other major markets that added him instead of Big Boy. I wouldn't be shocked if some stations switch from Russ Parr to Rickey Smiley.

I appreciate many different formats. However, I don`t understand ANY metro Atlanta station that doesn`t have a live and local Morning show! Cheap is the way that some stations go. Remember Bob and Tom, John Boy and Billy , Greaseman, etc.... Most national morning shows don`t do good in the morning here. A big outlet like Hot 107 deserves to have a much better LOCAL talent than this dribble.... And yes, I think sometime in the future WYAY-FM True Oldies 106.7 will do a live local Morning Show.. I think Imus` days are numbered on there...

Shouldn't you get back to pumping sunshine for that stupid oldies station? We could use a new thread telling us how 106.7 is so great.
