I haven't seen confirmation anywhere but if it's true...

A's baseball and its construction permit to go 50,000 watts, KNTS is becoming a player in the market (maybe not a significant player but worth taking note.)

The 50KW thing will be very important, since 5kw (daytime) and almost nothing at night won't cut it for A's fans. And I haven't seen any or heard any confirmation yet either- not on the A's website nor KNTS' website. Maybe we'll hear tomorrow (Friday)?
______________

BnR,

You've got to be kidding me. This could be worse than when they were on KDIA or KATD. KNTS? no, no, no! If this is true, how freaking sad...One has to wonder what Ken Pries and company are doing over there. They bounce around way too much. KABL, KSFO, etc...

Now...is it that the A's ratings are so bad that they can't find a decent home? Or is it just poor choices? Still, in these advanced times of tech, your radio coverage is the indentity of the team. How can the Giants repeatedly get it right and the A's get it wrong?

Korach is solid but no classic play by play man. And now this guy from the Astros(just be glad it's not Milo Hamilton). Are the A's unwilling to pay for top tier talent? I would watch/listen to A's games if I could stand it. Tim Roye is not my favorite and Ray Fosse is awful...but, someone must like him. He's been there forever.

The A's seem to forget that you have to make listening/watching the game as fun as actually being there. That's truly why people listen to and watch the Giants on TV. Better talent, better experience.

...And how 'bout a radio home that's not embarrassing?

What is going on in Oaktown people?

It's not as if Oaktown people have any say in it. I just hope that whatever station it's on that I'll be able to hear it near the bay and in the inland valleys (Livermore, Concord, Antioch, etc).

As for Korach, I think he's great. I know it's subjective, but I really like his enthusiasm and his play calling. There's no question that Bill King will be sorely missed though; the two of them made a great team. We'll see how the new pair fares, but I'm hopeful they'll work well together.
______________

My that is sad...First, Knowing Salem they are probably brokering the time.
Second, It will be a year or 2 before they go 50k. FCC,EPA,etc. This is not somthing that's gonna hapen in a few months. Third, Knowing Pries I'm not suprised. He hasn't a clue, he's bluffed his way along for years, maybe the
real broadcasters have finally caught up with his act. Or maybe he's planning on putting a few bucks in his pocket by renting parking spaces under the KNTS Tower so you can hear the games. OR,perhaps Radio Shack has a 50KW transmitter Kit available. Realistic Lives !

I think the REAL question at hand is....
"What did Bill King Know? And When did he Know It?"

AND...Does this meen KLAX is out of the running?

Is this the Ken Korach that, several years ago, broadcast games for a minor league team in Las Vegas? If it is, he did PBP on weekends for a year or two for the Chicago White Sox. He substituted for announcer, John Rooney, who was doing national broadcasts. I enjoyed his game calling.

Yes, it's the same Ken Korach, and many listeners of baseball enjoy his game calling. He is very good at the game calling.

His bio is on the A's website:
