The only decent local radio left on WLW is Noon to 3pm. No Willie-No local WLW.

Sadly, Willie is the only link left to the station's heyday of great local radio. He's irritating when he gets into partisan politics, but he thankfully snaps out of it quickly enough and gets back into local.

Jim Scott is way too programmed.
Mike McConnell sounds like he's speaking to people outside the area.
The guys 3-6.....I still consider them interim for a real host.
Sloan still speaks too manic to get into whatever he's discussing.

700 WLW sounds old and it needs to get with the 21st century. While I still like the fact that thy are local 24/7, I would like them to change their imagining and dump the morning show, drop the Team Coverage IDs every news break. McConnell sounds tired and its the same callers everyday. 3-6pm are a mess, despite what people say about their ratings. I agree Willie is best when He stays local, and stays away from the You're a great American routine. I've never been a fan of Sloan, as he talks like a million miles a minute and goes from topic to topic. If only the station could find a new Heyday in this day and age.

Re: The only decent local radio left on WLW is Noon to 3pm. No Willie-No local W

I've got no idea what McConnell needs, but he needs something. Its just not fun to listen to anymore. Doesn't he have a Producer to help him try to make his show better?

Some days he sounds so isolated you'd think he wasn't even in Cincinnati. Does he do that show away from everyone else at WLW? Why doesn't anyone ever walk in and talk to him? Is he working from home?

It could use some help.

I miss the good old days when the hosts would converse with the newscasters before their hourly newscast. It seems you never get that interaction between shows anymore, everything now is so tight and has to stick to the format. It was better when it was loose.

I agree radio in Cincinnati is bad, but I get the impression from reading other radio-info boards, it's bad everywhere right now.

I would be inclines to agree with that...Everything I would write everyone has already read a million times before.

McConnell has been on vacation for 2 weeks now and I can't stand to listen to Sloan who is filling in for him. Is Mike coming back?

Yeah I heard he was back. Scott was on his regular time.

Cunningham is local but I don't get why he says "after the hour" on weekdays. A timezone line doesn't run through Cincy. If it's 2:18 it's 2:18.
Considering that WLW's signal crosses multiple timezones and is also broadcast on XM, it makes perfect sense why he would say "after the hour".

But Cincinnati is the city it's supposed to serve, and while I don't think saying the time is anything important now since every radio I've owned for the past five years has a clock on it, being able to say "It's 3:22 here at..." is one of those little perks of being a local show. Plus, when the news comes up and says "It's 3:32 here at the home of the Reds..." it kind of nullifies any "after the hours."

That hasn't been relevant for eons.

And besides, you're just arguing to argue. "After the hour" has been used for decades on local TV and radio.
