Good day everyone,
Just in case some of you were not aware, Friday Night, February 2nd, long-time Baton Rouge radio producer and salesman/marketer extra-ordinary Ricky Stockner passed away at age 48. His full obituary is in the Advocate on-line at www.2theadvocate.com.
Ricky left us after complications from heart surgery, though Ricky on and off had been battling different physical ailments for quite awhile, yet never complained. He didn't want people to overly worry about him.
He worked several years with Jim Engster on several radio projects including statewide's "Louisiana Live" and WRKF's "Jim Engster Show". Ricky had his own radio production company called "Sound Solutions" and he started the first radio traffic reporting service in the city's history. He also had many ties to the LSU radio station and thoroughly enjoyed playing music, especially jazz.
While Ricky was mainly behind the scenes, he was just as great in the radio industry as Baton Rouge legends John Ferguson, Sid Crocker, and John Fred...which is a quote I heard describing Ricky from a triubte letter someone wrote about him.
Take care.
Vanessa
