The Passing of John Pepe, WERA Sports Director

Sad to report the passing of the fabled WERA Sports Director John Pepe, who knew and practiced the value of local sports on local radio. John, himself, was an athlete, had the unique rapport and communication skills it took and served the City of Plainfield and its kids for years as its highly respected and admired Recreation Director. John consistently involved his audience with the athletes, whether they were fans or not, and remained a consistent cheerleader for both the winners and the losers. If there was something that he espoused amongst the pros and amateurs of all ages and stripes, it was surely consistent good sportsmanship and integrity, commodities in short supply these days. We’ll all be missing you, John! It was great to share the field with you for just a little while!

I'm sad to hear of the passing of John. I had the privilege of working with John at 'ERA towards the end of the station's life ('94-'95) and he was a true professional and a friend. Rest In Peace, John.
