By "voiceguy" I mean someone to do phone bits with, as a celebrity character or not. Are they relevant any more? I'd be particularly interested in what you PD's have to say. If you had the opportunity to grab someone who is the best you've ever heard, would you? And how much would that be worth to your station each month?
An acquaintance of mine (an actor) is the best character voice I have ever heard in my almost 40 years in the business, and he's already a star in the viral video world. I'm not going to drop his name here, and I'm not posting this to drum up business. I'm just doing him a favor.
In my PD days, voiceguys (used right) would be a nice asset for a morning show. How about today? do they matter? Are budgets so tight that they're not used today?
