The Sands of the hourglass just got a gift for its 60th anniversary…

Head writer Ron Carlivati was fired back in July, and for good reason. The show became unwatchable, stupid storylines that went nowhere, and ended abruptly. And the horrible soap within a soap storyline going on right now has me made go on hiatus from viewing. Ron is good at cleaning up the messes left by writers on other soaps he's worked on, but doesn't know how to clean up his own mess.

Shows from the new writers won't air until February. So Peacock must have faith that things will turn around.

The week leading up to episode 15,000 will be a special week full of flashbacks, and the on air funeral for Doug Williams (played by the late Bill Hayes). A lot of former Days actors from the past will show up all week long as a tribute to him.

Well DOOL is on the home of the longterm future of Soap Operas anyway - Streaming TV so this is no surprise

Now if only CBS & ABC see that, maybe soap fans could rejoice again (I can already see Proctor & Gamble making its whole library available to PlutoTV and/or giving CBS/Paramount permission to reboot them with ALL NEW episodes) while Y&R & B&B get moved from PlutoTV exclusively to Paramount+ & axe them & the new show by 2027 from the CBS schedule

As for GH, if ABC doesn't let Amazon have it for Freevee (It already airs episodes on a same day basis), they'll move it to Hulu

NBC should put Day back on NBC and canceled that flop that is NBC Daily News as Days had better ratings than the news afternoon big mistake by NBC. For the record I didn't watch Days for years.

NBC News Daily is a much better fit for the network and the affiliates are much happier with it.

Network TV isn't the future of Soap Operas

Agreed. It's like an hour long news brief (Remember when the networks ran those back in the 1980s at regular intervals??)
I would rather see Days move to syndication then putting it back on NBC
If you remember how Rituals WENT UP IN FLAMES in the 1980s, you wouldn't have said that
That would be Sony’s decision to make. Not many broadcast companies would be interested at this point.
Nor are local stations

Well, now we why DOOL was renewed by Peacock. According to Luminate, which measures entertainment streaming data, Days continues to be the most streamed show on Peacock, and has shown an increase in streaming since the move from NBC to Peacock.

Seriously, this show could end up being around another 60 years, and be celebrating 120 years in 2084!

That's because it's THE ONLY Soap Opera that's exclusively on a streaming service (Remember Y&R & B&B are on CBS as well as Paramount+ & PlutoTV & the streaming rights to GH just recently went to Amazon Freevie on a same day delay even though it's still primarily on ABC so they don't count in the streaming soaps since they're not exclusives like DOOL is)

In 2065, it'll be 100

The success of Days on Peacock will lead ABC and CBS to eventually go streaming only with the remaining soaps (including Beyond The Gates). It would make sense, as far bringing on more subscription customers, and increasing revenue for Paramount+, and Disney+, and free up daytime hours for lower budget, and more profitable shows.

BTG should've been launched on Paramount+ ONLY if you ask me with Pluto TV Soaps getting reruns of the entire P&G library (Dumping Y&R & B&B onto Paramount+ along with BTG) with the ultimate goal of originating ITS OWN Soap Operas

As it is now, dedicating AN ENTIRE CHANNLE to 2 (Soon to be 3) shows is just A COMPLETE WASTE (At least CBS/Paramount wised up to the idea of adding the other OTA Star Trek shows other than TNG & added more channels for them (Now if they would add channels for the old Paramount+ shows & one for ALL the movies on Pluto TV, that would be GREAT 😁)

Pluto TV Soaps was actually discontinued last month, mainly due to Sony not renewing their licensing agreement (the same reason why both the Wheel and Jeopardy channels are gone), so Sony pulled off all their shows including Y&R.

Hence why a new Y&R YouTube channel was announced (B&B has had one for years now)

It'll be brought back. But THIS time with the P&G library. Mark my words

As for the official YouTube channel, that's no surpise as they've had one for B&B as well for years where the classic episodes have been digitally remastered & streamed

Wouldn't be surprised if they do the same thing for DOOL before too long either. In fact, I also wouldn't be surprised if they launched one for Capitol (The predecessor to B&B) & brought back episodes of that as well
