THE SOUND & MOVIN HAVE TO BE HATIN IT....TALK ABOUT A BLOWN OPPORTUNITY!

Like so many of us had said on here long ago, Top 40 and the chance to go at KIIS has been wide open for a long time. Bonneville had a supreme opportunity with the 100.3 signal (as did Emmis with MOVIN)

Now, they can both watch AMP 971 leave em in the dust. KIIS has gotta be hating it too. They've been riding the wave unchallenged (directly anyway) for a long time in this market. Kudos to CBS and good for L.A. listeners...The market just got better for you!

***But now where will Leykis and Carolla go??

The Sound hatin' it? Nahhhh they're very happy being KLOS-Lite ;)

If you take them as a classic rock station, they are actually very good. Once I gave up any hope that they were a AAA station or would be innovative in any way, I started liking them more. They are my first choice on the rare times I punch up the FM band these days.

I don't think the LDS is particularly fond of CHR, due to the lyrics and behaviour of the artists. It's not too reasonable to think they would have wanted to do the format in LA.

Perhaps they are easing up with their tolorance a bit....I was surprised to hear Ian Dury's "Sex and Drugs and Rock & Roll" on the Sound last week.

Also a few months ago I heard an air talent mention either the soda machine or coffee machine, I can't remember which, but at the time, it also surprised me because I had always heard that when Bonneville takes over a station, the coffee and sodas go. That is unless, perhaps the machines are exclusively stocked with decaffeinated beverages.

I don't know if you can say that the Sound is "hatin' it"... all they really need is a PD that actually knows how to do the format.

As for Emmis and "Movin'"... well, now there's an obvious blunder. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know they could have really put the squeeze on KIIS if they had wanted to. So now they will just let someone else do it. How sad... NOT!

Not true. At least not in recent history. I worked for Bonneville 16 years ago and the Pepsi machine was fully stocked and cheap...and the coffeepot was bottomless and free.

What format are you referring to, john77? Because you cannot be talking about the Adult Alternative format as we recognize it. I think the PD is doing what they feel works in LA. Even though the PPM #s don't support that implementation.

Interesting! I don't recall where I had heard the no caffiene dictate, but it was likely from a friend who at a Bonneville station....perhaps it was an isolated case. Thanks for the correction.
