The Stoli Story has the scent of a hoax

Just writing out loud...does the Barnes Dog Story have the same markings as the "Clark Howard was beaten into a coma" hoax from his vault a few years back? This is just the kind of stunt that Steve would hatch to help negate a rough year. I know his wife reasonably well and giving the dog away doesnt sound like something she would sign off on. As for the financial damage to the house, it's a poorly-kept secret that Stacey's uber-rich folks finance a lot of their lifestyle. (Also, when Barnes makes mention of money, feel free to divide any figure by 10. I peg the house damage at $372.00) And I also dont think he would give the dog away either. Not sure how to reconcile this theory against the adoption ad, but I wonder....
 
That divide by ten suggestion works just as well when talking about his "talent"
 
If it was a hoax he would have talked about it on the air. A hoax was probably help ratings.

Hey what's ten grand when you are about to win one million dollars in a lawsuit.
 
Actually, a pefect hoax would be one where he never reveals it as it continues to grow. Or is that just here on this board?

well, if the animal clinic involved posted Stoli's picture, then to make this a'true' hoax, they would have to be a part of it.

If they were, in fact, clients, how would this help them?

Plus, Barnes/Slider : if he was that creative, if it was a hoax, I can't see how this helps him.

Clark being beaten into a coma (?) is different then Barnes/Slider giving up his pooch. ( please explain this?! )

It assumes Clark was in a position to be beaten, whereas Stoli had no control over his future ( other then being inconvenient to Barnes' career...by crapping on his precious carpet ) ;D
 
No hoax at all - that shelter is a for real organization.
I suspect this is one of those decisions the boy would like to have back - we all make them from time to time. Why? Well, last evening at dog class, a couple of the Little Ol' Ladies With Blue Hair were discussing the thing, and "how awful that person is..". If the LOLs WBH get started talking to their husbands (remember, most 'dog people' stick together, and some are very well to do) and suggesting deadvertising and the like, he's dead in the water. Truly a Bad Choice. The possible career hit is way worse than any damage the dog might have done. Of course, hindsight is always pretty accurate....

I've already said my bit. I still think the dog is in a much better situation and, as directly from the woman's mouth at Aiding and Apetting (who was on the morning show this morning), she thinks it was best for the dog to get into a new environment because it's behaivior has drastically improved, primarily because it is now around other dogs....

But everyone here seems to know better, so I'll just assume she's crazy....

WSB-FM radio’s Kelly Stevens and Alpha Trivette host the 1st annual fundraiser to benefit Atlanta’s orphaned dogs and cats, live from the Atlanta airport Hilton. Scheduled to appear: Poster dog Stoli, Diana DeGarmo, Georgia Force Cheerleaders, Bill Gentry & the 35¢ Rodeo, Emmanuel Lewis. Plus a very special appearance by WZGC radio’s Barnes, and a reunion and song with Barnes and poster dog Stoli.
