As a lifestyle format I just don't see the potential.
I completely agree. Dance is one of those niche formats that works if you're out in a club or a Saturday night house party. But like you said, I can't imagine many people would be tuning in on a weekday morning, or waking up to it. I think I would have a seizure waking up to dance music ;D
And granted, dance music isn't for everyone. For one, I can't wake up to screeching guitars with screaming. But hey that's just my preference, but there are people out there that love that music so I'm not knocking them for it. It's called preference.
Once again, and this is the stereotype that is glued onto dance music...there are people that love the sounds and DO NOT go to dance clubs. It is not a law that a dance music fan has to go to a club to appreciate the music. People like the music and whether one agrees with the lifestyle associated with it or not, there is still a strong following for it....certainly in Europe but it is rising again here.
Besides, I'd rather have the lifestyle of going around places in hot climates, seeing beautiful people dancing around on the beach or poolside versus having to fear my life going into a club with strong potentials for fights and murders because a crowd loves a certain type of music that endorses that to a certain extent. The again, goes back to preference. There are fans that like that life and I'm not knocking them for it.
