Las Vegas The Vibe has joined The Revolution: ANCO acquires Heftel’s Highway Radio Stations.

.. wow @ all those CP Modifications for K211DC.

I really like the Frenchman Mountain site, it has a much better (taller) height than the Black Mountain loaded tower farm, and its a bit closer to the Northern and Eastern Half of the Valley too.

.. And yea, the Strat is another great central location for broadcasting within the Valley, well of course, its not really that great outside LV once you go behind the mountains in every direction.

Why not put the translator on Frenchman Mountain, home of that KAWZ 10 watt translator on 90.1 K211DC. it seems to be a great line of sight option on the east side of the valley. Last year I heard that 10 watt signal almost 50 miles away in Indian Springs! kinda surprised other stations don't move there too, seems like a better central location vs Black Mountain or Potosi where almost all other Vegas signals are...
Technically it's a booster - not a translator. Because it's on the same frequency as the main. But the answer to your question is likely because a booster cannot extend the reach of the main transmitter's protected contour. If you look at the coverage of KHYZ:

the protected contour doesn't reach as far to the North as a signal on Frenchman Mountain. The booster's 54 dbu can't exceed that of the main. You can't tell for sure but if you interpolate where that contour should be on the map it probably just fits. Here's the booster coverage:

From my understanding they and the other stations commonly reffered to as being on the Strat aren't actually on the main tower. Which explains why certain areas in the valley struggle.

That's not true. All of the translators and boosters on the Strat are at or near the top of the concrete part of the Strat tower up above the observation decks and restaurant. They're not all the way at the top of the steel tower that holds the drop ride.

Where the problem comes in is that the Strat, tall as it is, doesn't sit on particularly high ground in the valley. There's a lot of shadowing, not just into Henderson but into areas north and NW of downtown, too.

I know K268CS is pretty rough between trop and Silvarado Ranch in places. Kinda annoying if I'm trying to listen to the headlines

They’re also planning to shift to a commercial-free model similar to WZFL since those on-air liners during the commercial breaks suggest that the days of Beepin’ Autos, Paul Powell, The Vacation Buddys and Cameron Law are over and done with.

99.7 signal just reaches into Baker, not Barstow. Thats 98.1 coverage but i thought the dance format is only gonna be on 99.7 And not 98.1/Barstow "SoCal"

If all the Former Highway Stations (Highway Vibe) stations are included in the sale, as a previous post mentioned, then perhaps the Revolution Branded dance format (simulcast) may probably come back to the three signals, 98.1 Barstow, 98.9 Laughlin, and of course the main Vegas signal on 99.7 ..? Maybe.
