Remember WDRE ? I friggin' loved it....but it couldnt float longterm

Remember Y100? a WDRE knock-off. Enough said there.

BUSINESSES DON'T OPEN THEIR WALLETS FOR THE ALTERNATIVE FORMAT. There's a reason why alternative DJ's have to have three roomates and second jobs DJ-ing weddings and Bar Mitzvahs

There is a reason why alternative radio succeeds on college radio

Who owns the station and what are they thinking?

Skin radio...what a waste of classic call letters and frequency and a decent location.

You may be early to rise, but you'll be early to a grave if you keep letting things like radio formats stress you out like that. Whew, calm down a tad.

I dunno but I think DRE did better than Praise on 103.9, Y-100 did better than the Beat on 100.3 and SNJ did better than RNB on 107.7/9. R1 destroyed 3 "C" formats in favor of their blend and all 3 are doing worst than what was on before. Just my thoughts. Alternative or Active would do much better on one of those frequencies than what is on at the present. Even if one flipped to Music Choices Retro or XM's Lucy I think it would explode.

Y-100 didn't dominate in the ratings but they weren't hurting for cash when they went off the air. This was after their format was watered down to the point it was and they were way past their peak point of popularity.

I would venture that not many other stations in town could have disappeared off the terrestrial airwaves and still maintained such a strong following as that station has on the internet and now on HD-2. Given a second chance, it definitely could pull in good ratings and decent ad money once again. Most of the music they currently play on Y-Rock is the same stuff that makes up the soundtracks of some of the most popular television shows and movies aimed at the desirable 18-24 demographics.

Is there any reason this thought couldn't have gone in the skinradio thread? You seem real hopped up about this.

Y100 (according to Jim McGuinn) was the highest billing station in the radio one cluster when taken off the air. Also, it survived aslong as it did under radio one ownership, because it billed so well. If not for the fact that P&S contract was coming to an end (radio one wasn't willing to sell out to keep them, and didn't think Y100 would continue to bill good without them) the station would've stayed on the air for a while longer.

Wait a minute. This can't be right. Only the Oldies format doesn't make enough money and is a hard sell. All of the consultants tell us so. It's the oldies demo that has people that don't change brands, don't try new things, don't have or spend money.

That M 18-34 is THE prime demo that WOGL should dump it's format for.

Hey consultant guys. You can't have it both ways.
