WHTZ Z-100 New York is one of the best CHRs in the world without a doubt. The best customized jingles, the best high energy air talent, a funny morning show (the "best of" can be heard online during the station's commercial breaks), and the station is very active on new music.
At the same time, Z-100 knows how to sprinkle in the right Recurrents/Gold, and many of them were big regional hits. Z is not afraid to play big Hip Hop, Dance, Rock, and Reggae anthems that did well in the region, and isn't even afraid to play the occasional older ballad even though New York is well served by Adult Contemporary stations.
Here's a list of most of the Recurrents Z played in the past 24 hours:
The Fugees “Ready or Not”
The Fugees “Killing Me Softly”
Mr. Vegas “Heads High”
Amber “This Is Your Night”
Green Day “Basket Case”
Green Day “When I Come Around”
K7 “Come Baby Come”
The Bloodhound Gang “The Bad Touch”
Outhere Bros “Boom Boom Boom
Lit “My Own Worst Enemy”
Dawn Penn “You Don’t Love Me”
Tanto Metro & Devonte “Everyone Falls In Love”
Tanto Metro & Devonte “Give It To Her”
Allure “All Cried Out”
Big Pun “Still Not A Player”
Louchie Lou “Rich Girl”
Jessica Simpson “I Wanna Love You Forever”
Mary J. Blige “Real Love”
City High “What Would You Do”
Terror Fabulous “Action”
Ludacris “Whats Your Fantasy”
MadHouse “Like A Prayer”
Chaka Demus & Pliers “Murder She Wrote”
Brandy “Have You Ever”
Janet Jackson “Again”
Notorious B.I.G. “Hypnotize”
Lasgo “Something”
Selena “I Could Fall In Love”
Brian Mcknight “Back At One”
Rupee “Tempted To Touch”
TLC “Creep”
I love how Z-100's not afraid to play those Reggae anthems by the likes of Mr. Vegas, Tanto Metro 7 Devonte, or Terror Fabulous.
So, if you haven't gotten your Z fix lately you can listen online:
