This says a lot about the CCM industry- how record co's treat artists

Sorry. I just had to get this off my chest. From some other discussions on how supposed Christian record co's mistreat their legacy artists. Ever wonder why you cannot buy great CCM anymore?

The issue of the artist getting any royalties is totally different. Most
artists won't see any or not very much from record sale
s. Just ask Larry
Norman, Phil Keaggy
, Pat Terry, Mark Farner and thousands of others who
have been burned by the record companies.

The CDs that The Imperials are selling, are CDRs. These are mass produced by a duplication company that The Imperials are using. All the masters are owned by Providence, Word, and EMI so there is no way for The Imperials to get a hold of the Masters.

So they went to the next best thing and restored the recordings from LPs and other CDs that were already released.

Great going CCM industry. Screw your customers. No wonder the music sounds so lame and cardboard these days.

However, this is telling...

Isn't this like a conversation with most CCM PDs or GMs. "OH, boss, I have an idea..." <boisterous interruption> "Hrmph, whatever your name is. This is how we do it at big Jesus... ER... Christian-American radio."

And on goes the mindless rant that bores us to tears. It's off base, off topic and off kilter.

My guess? Don is a PD in somewhere USA. ;D

It's very related to the radio industry, since CCM seems to be in bed with the record co's.

DJs take trips, meet the labels and their artists at big industry shows, report glowing things about all the wonderful greedy record co's, etc., all the while shooting their past stars.

Heck, Randy Matthews and others had to drop out of the industry because the labels and raido wouldn't support them.

Matthews, considered one of the pioneer CCM artists, now works as a pirate at a resort.

I think that alone says alot about the crummy state of CCM.

Looks like record co's really love to treat their "stars" well.

It's as if CCM choses to not only ignore, but send their pioneers to the poor house.

Perhaps the industry needs to erect poor-houses where these older artists can live, much like Hollywood does for some of its struggling aging artists.

Then again, that would expose CCM's arrogance and the way it just loves its pioneers.

I found the above post from another Internet discussion very informative. I don't see CCM going after downloaders. If they did, they'd have blood on their hands as they have for years been mistreating CCM artists.

Ask Kenny Marks, David Meece, et. al.

This is the kind of material you don't see much on this CCM appreciation board.
