Thom Brennaman contract is through 2010, I hope the Reds do the right thing and

Precisely. Just pause "live" tv and let it catch up to the feed. Usually 4 seconds over AM radio and about 15 seconds if listening on XM satellite radio. This is a great little gadget, huh?

I hope Marty doesn't think we actually enjoy listening to Thom.

I’m sitting here trying to listen to the Reds on Radio, but I’m not sure there’s a game going on. It’s 8:55 so I’m pretty sure the game started, but Thom has found so many things to distract himself with that he barely managed to tell me about ball four in between breathless interviews of guests in the booth. I guess the pitches before that weren’t worth mentioning.

Anyway, there’s one reason why it might be time to start following the NFL, or at least the Bengals.

Wait... he managed to squeeze in a mention of a stolen base in between his conversation with someone selling hotel rooms. Maybe there is a game going on.

Dusty has pulled the pitcher, but I'm not sure why... must not have been important.

Arrgh!

I'm wondering if the Cowboy is also finding it tedious to listen to Thom. Thom's ramblings may be fine on TV, 'cause the score and count are always on the screen. But, radio is ephemeral - you have to remind the audience fairly regularly where things stand.

Bring on Mr. Adequate, Dan Hoard!

A rambling point is OK.

What I find irritating is the phony excitement he uses to make whatever fact/story seem to be interesting.

Listening to Willie Cunningham today, the name Pete Rose came up as part of a Marty, Cowboy, Pete trio of future Reds radio announcers.

Sounds great to me.

Interestingly, although the other possible additions (Hoard, etc) were brought up, not one time was Thom's name mentioned!

Marty i think is getting ready to scale back his Radio Time limiting to like the Late Harry Kalas did with the Phillies and Vin Scully is Currently doing with the Dodgers, Doing all Home Games and NL/AL Central Road Games. in the near Future. thats why you see Thom around along with bringing up the Louisville Bats Voice Jim Kelch and tonights Appearance for Dan Hoard on the Radio Side. Cowboy obviously filling in for the Crafty Left Hander on tv this Week, Hoard with Marty TOnight and Kelch tomorrow night. so I take tv at least for this series is going to Be Thom or George with Cowboy

As long as Kelch can stay on point and focus on baseball. He has knowledge of the Red's farm system, which is more interesting than Marty's grandchildren stopping by the booth.

Check out Kieswetter's blog, http://cincinnati.com/blogs/tv/2009/12/03/thom-brennaman-replacing-george-grande-on-reds-tv/, Thom to the TV booth.

And this just heard on 'LW: Jim Kelch to the radio booth.

This is good news. If Thom wants to work with his dad they should plant some trees or something. They don't add to a Reds broadcast one bit when they work together.
