Three Oldies Stations at 7 or 8 places on the dial...where else in America?

Now with the return of WQFM/WQFN, Gem 107.7 and all of it's extra dial positions and The Mighty 590, NEPA's airwaves are rich with Gold.
How will this affect others? Will WMGS alter it's sort of pop from the 70s? Will WARM return to Talk, or try something else in the Spoken word formats? Will Oldies 92 & 100's audience return to Cool 92.1/100.1? It's a different station than it was, both musically and in presentation. Will Gem 107.7 ride the storm out and continue building momentum?
Thoughts?

Sorry, I'm not from northeastern PA, but have been there a few times. Isn't 107.7 FM the station which relays WKRZ-FM 98.5 of Wilkes-Barre to the Pocono region?

I ran across a "gem" of an oldies show. I think it comes out of 960-AM in West Palm Beach, Florida but I listened to it over the web at www.seaviewam960.com in stereo. A friend of mine turned me on to it a few weeks ago and it is fantastic. DJ is named "Jammin Jon" and he airs on Saturdays from 1-5PM Eastern Time. It is a throwback to great radio of the 50's & 60's. He plays it ALL!!!! Doo-wop, 50's & 60's rock & roll plus he takes requests and dedications on demand both by toll-free phone and via email. It doesn't seem that he has any playlists....just pick and play....its a breath of fresh air. If you love real oldies, especially the stuff you will never hear on formatted, voice-tracked stations, I strongly recommend you check this out. I think that the rest of the time this station plays adult standards which put me to sleep, but this Saturday show is definitely worth a listen. If I hear of any more shows playing real oldies I'll be sure to post it here.

No ... 107.9 Is The Former WPMR (Pocono Mountain Radio) Which Was A Classic Rock Station. That Is Now The 'KRZ Repeater, WKRF. 107.7 Went On The Air In 1990 As "Rock And Roll Favorites" WYMK. After That It Became WEMR-FM Followed By A Few Programming Changes Including A Simulcast Of WBHT Followed By A Simulcast Of WMGS (Magic 93) And Is Now Gem 107.7 Which Is An Oldies Station.

WPMR was probably the best rock station that ever existed. Ashame that it lasted so short... They had alot of talent up there. A few of those jocks can be heard down in the Lehigh Valley today. WKRF seems useless to me, I listen occasionally, but its basically a repeater for WKRZ. Any chance Entercom would sell that signal off? Seems a real waste of a dial position, theres enough population now in the Poconos for that signal to be effective, and the time is ripe now that Nassau has all but abandoned local programming down in Monroe Couty. Anyone have any idea if Entercom has been entertaining offers on WKRF-FM??

Gem, is making some Scranton Wilkes-Barre inroads, but it doesn't have strong signals in the cities. WARM can't be a serious contender. It has no signal and no budget. Plus, it's AM. Cool 92 has the potential to take the majority of the oldies audience, until a format change in a couple years.

Thank you. Let's now return to reality, and leave WARM out of any discussions regarding the future. The words future and WARM do not belong in the same sentence.

This area is so screwed up that when people ask me where I'm from I tell them upstate New York.

Hmmmmmm, why didn't I think of that? Tom, if you moved to a southern state, they'd crown you King.

Yonkstur

It will be interesting to see(and hear) what happens in the wake of cool 92&100. I think WARM'S days with an oldies format
are numbered, its too bad "True Oldies" is a good format, they play some "deeper" stuff, and the special weekends are pretty good.
The "GEM" has found a niche, but will have to work a little harder with the new kid on the block.
so will the River, and Lite 94.3
.
