TikTok Radio on SiriusXM shutting down, TikTok Radio moves to iHeart

per Lance Ventra on Radio Insight, SiriusXM is shutting down TikTok Radio after 4 years as TikTok recently signed a deal with iHeartMedia to move TikTok Radio over to the iHeart streaming service.

TikTok Radio is slated to end at 3 AM ET/2 AM CT/1 AM MT/12 AM PT tonight into tomorrow morning and replacing it will be Holly (the Christmas music channel) on Sirius XM channel 4 while Christmas Country will start earlier (was slated to launch on December 3rd, will start tomorrow) on channel 79 instead of channel 58.

I don't think anyone cares. If they did this to market a channel to the gen z crowd on Sirius xm that probably didnt end up working. Does anyone know if they even had any live hosts on that channel? Maybe if they hired some younger social media influencers to do shows that might've attracted some younger listeners.

The marriage of Tik Tok Radio and iHeart is in the works. This paragraph from Sean Ross sums up what to expect. OTA Tik Tok radio on broadcast frequencies, and iHeart platform on Tik Tok with PPM encoding.

The iHeart/TikTok deal is potentially a great thing for radio on the specific condition that it makes iHeart’s broadcast stations available on the TikTok app itself, and that those stations, including iHR’s planned “TikTok Radio,” are encoded for PPM and help increase broadcast radio’s usage. (iHR’s release talks about having TikTok radio on broadcast frequencies, which would presumably make it eligible to encode.)

Isn’t that late for the Xmas channels to launch.
Maybe, by a few days, but the real news is the start of Country Christmas somewhere other than on Prime Country, Channel 58, which it usually pre-empts. I wonder if it will be simulcast on 58 later in the season.

I don’t know if they were live but they did have hosts. Most were awful but I’m not the target demo. My son liked listening to it but he’s in the right demo. The music selection wasn’t too awful and was certainly unique among the other offerings.
