time for more Howard Stern to return to New York Radio speculation

My guess is he would probably quit altogether. Terestrial radio is too restrictive for him, so he would probably take what cash he got out of the deal and retire. Either that or go to cable TV. That is his other option.

I remember Stern going on Letterman, and any talk show that would have him bragging about Sirrius radio. And how he was going to revolutionize satellite radio. 5 years at 100 million per year. It started with XM folding up like a cheap suit. Now Sirrius is in serious financial trouble. And everyone is jumping ship.
First of all, who in their right mind would pay to listen to radio?????????? You have to have more than one screw loose and cash to burn.
And now Stern will come back to regular radio with his tail between his legs and act as if he never made a mistake. Because we all know he will never own up to it. Or perhaps he and his vulgar rants will drift off into oblivion. Stay tuned! ;D

Whatever happens, the censorship climate in 2008 is well different than it was in 2004. The fines are still high, but wil they be enforced?

What about Internet radio? He can do his show directly via howardstern.com.

When it gets to that, you can oficially kiss him goodbye. Why would he do it? There would be next to no cash in it for him. I wold doubt he would get 30% of his present audience if he became a net-only entity.

I listen to (and gladly pay for) satellite radio because I HATE COMMERCIALS. I also like the large choice of quality name-brand programming satellite radio brings, uncensored as well. Then there's the portability of being any where in North America and not being far from radio I am familiar with, in rental cars or driving in the Appalachians.

Just to add, I don't think Howard Stern would return to terrestrial radio. It's way too confining, and he sounds great on satellite radio.

Add to that satellite has a major advantage over terrestrial. Variety. Even FM stations that claim to be different formats repeat the same songs. What boredom!

You would if you lived where I live and didn't have a station with the format you wanted to hear.
Of course, internet streaming of radio stations on iPhone changes the mix. It is something I am considering now.

Hm. Radio-Info's staff indicated that EchoStar might be interested in taking Sirius XM over. I don't see why this would be such a bad thing. Echostar is a company that's actually profitable.

Yes and they would probably DO BETTER than that idiot who destroyed XM!! (Mel)

I cant believe XM is gone...........

I LOVE it whenever I see someone write, "I love satellite radio because of the music choices and NO COMMERCIALS!"

1) The talk channels...HAVE COMMERCIALS. Maybe they are called 'sponsorships', but if it is not the content I was looking for on that channel, it's a deviation from the norm which is NOT what the listener is looking for.

2) The playlists on Sirius/XM are alot tighter than any FM I have ever heard. Example: Go to the 'Faction' channel and tell me how many times you hear Bouncing Souls "Man in Black."

I drove across the country w/my girlfriend and she has XM/Sirius in her car. Had to flip through the channels constantly to hear something decent. It's funny because the songs I heard on the 'rock' stations are all the same songs I hear on an FM rocker. They were just separated between 'Octane', 'Faction', 'Lithium', and the other stations. Only they play the same 20 songs over and over. Then again, they must've done something right because I remember the names of the channels ha ha.

Also, it's a travesty to music quality what they do with those channels. The audio quality is a joke. A strong stereo FM w/a decent engineer setting it up sounds a million times better.

But sadly that is the case with America. It's not quality. It's quantity. 200 channels of absolute crap. It's cable in your car. Oh, and since the GF has an XM reciever, she would have to PAY MORE to hear Howard.

I now step off my soap box.

looks like i was too soon...siriusXM found bid

approximately $172.5 million aggregate principal amount of its outstanding 10% Convertible Senior Notes due December 2009 for a like principal amount of its newly issued Senior Secured Notes due 2011. An aggregate of $400 million in principal amount of the 10% Convertible Senior Notes due December 2009 was outstanding prior to this transaction.

i'd love to know against what this debt is secured

and for them to bundle sirius debt into an etf... so I could buy or sell it....guess which I really mean
