THANK YOU!

To all the Television folks who worked this Holiday -- THANKS

This is just a shout out from a viewer. While most of us were off from work, many of the folks who put the news/weather & sports on our local Television Stations were working during the Holiday. I for one wanted to say thank you for being there keeping us informed as to what was going on around us.

TV? YUK! Shut off the idiot box and you won't miss a thing. Same info in a hundred places.

How about the emt people, hospital staff, ELECTRIC and phone Company, police and fire???? Shut those off and you have a problem. Sheesh!

Of course thanks to those people as well, but this is not the board I would go to address them on.

of course I am surprised to find somebody who hates TV reading this one

I would take the opportunity that this is the "Texas TV" forum so I'm not sure why your post has any relevance to the subject matter at hand.

Relevance, schmelavance. The subject is those folks who must work holidays while you watch them, still in your 'jammies."

The tv people are getting paid to watch tv and push bottons, not exactly saving lives, like the people I mentioned. Working holidays is what "media (radio and newspapers, too) MUST do.

If you want holidays off, or are crabby about working Christmas morning, there are plenty of other jobs without that
problem. Many people who really work for a living would gladly trade places.

You might as well thank all of the ministers/priests who must work EVERY Sunday or those people who work third shift (while you sleep), or must plow your snow at odd hours. Same deal.

Thanks!

We busted our butts to get a special sporting event on the air on our station yesterday, using a satellite format completely foreign to our past experience. Luckily it turned out fine from a technical standpoint.

(OTOH, the home team lost 42-17.....)

In many ways, working on a holiday is less stressful. No management around, most of the staff is gone too so you can actually work on some of those systems which nobody will let you touch during a normal workday. Often, sports preempts newscasts so that stressor is gone too. (but we sure appreciate the folks who spend their holiday at the stadium, either with the production trucks or simply keeping the stadium itself working!)

On the other hand, if something goes wrong, you're on your own!

Just about anyone working on Christmas is getting paid for it, regardless of what type of job they have...hopefully at holiday pay rates.

I worked on Christmas...the extra money will pay a few bills...!!!
