To whomever gave my home telephone number to Bobby Langham...

big hugs to mary and you chuck - and trey.
i read about ms. v - blessings to you all...

DONNA! <3 Big love, and happy belated birthday!

I'm sorry that happened to you.

I forget which one Bobby is, although I know he's been a frequent caller for years. Is he the one out in Alvin who thinks he's married to Janis Joplin's ghost?

Nope. That would be J.C. that's married to Janis & he also has Elvis living with him (them).

Donna if you find out who it was I would be glad to head up the get even committee.

I saw him at the rodeo yesterday! Funny thing is, he was asking me about a few folks, but Chuck Joseph particularly and asked "do you have his phone number?" I said no. We took a picture, like last year when I met him after all these years. I assured him I would send a copy, and he assured me he would keep it for a LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG time.

Pretty tacky and disgusting business that is. Hope whoever did it gets treated "right" for it. It's one of the hazards of the business today, I perceive.

hi steve, josh!
auntie... (thinks, thinks...) my birthday! do i know you?
i just now have read these notes, been away for a funeral.
i wanted to clarify -- i meant it, the thank you.
my home number is not easy to find.
i've assumed it was someone who knows me well enough to know it and know it was okay; someone who knew me well enough to know i have always made respectful time for bobby's queries over the years, someone who knew there's nothing to fear from bobby langham. and lastly, someone with a caring understanding of bobby's harmless fandom for those of us in radio.
bobby's mother passed away and he is now living in the care of his sister, and is unable to hear his beloved radio as he has for what, 30 years? this has been very distressing to him.
i recieved my first bobby langham letter in 1986 at z-107.
the conversation, as it has been without fail every time bobby calls us, was nothing but respectful and appropriate.
when bobby called a station/dj, he was only calling to obtain info on the whereabouts of the dj's, what the lineup changes were and how to spell the names correctly. he's kept track of nearly everyone on almost every station consistently for years.. if you want to know who did middays on, say, kwtf in august of 89, you could just ask bobby. that was all he ever was interested in, and he is a real fan of radio.
so, for real, thanks.
:)

Bobby knows stuff... probably more than many of us know. I got my first letter from him in the '80's,perhaps '79 at KAUM...He knew the stations I had worked at in East Texas prior to coming to Houston... then more as I moved around. In 2006 I went to K-Star in Conroe, and in 2 weeks, I had a letter. It said he was sad that I had left KRBE (20 years earlier). He asked me for a picture, and since all I had was junior high yearbook pictures from school (I am teaching in Pearland), I opted to make a copy of a (young) Barry Kaye picture that I found on the wall. Bobby appreciated the picture, and never mentioned how young I looked (or kinda macho), or seemed to recognize the extra couple of inches of height... but he never told me it was not the picture he needed. Just a brief thank you for the picture.
Next time I have the privilege to hear from Bobby, I'll send him my most current, largest school picture. I'm sure he would appreciate it more than the 200 students I teach. He can keep it and look at it for a long, long, long, long, long, .... time.

If it's the Bobby I'm thinking about, I used to hear from him when I worked an overnight shift on weekends. You're right that he was never anything but sincere and respectful. On those rare ocassions when I would run a contest, he'd call several times. I swear, I thought the guy had invented speed-dial. I've heard from several like him over the years. My first boss told me not to put those folks down. They're listeners, too. They are as much a reason you have a job as the giggling teeny-boppers that called evey five minutes from the slumber party they were having. Some nights, he'd be the only one who called. At least I knew someone was listening at 2 AM in the morning. I wonder if he still listens to the voice-tracked stations. Bet it pains him because he can't reach a real person.

If he's like Karen, as long as he knows it's "robot" and not someone blowing him off, he's probably okay.

Callers like that don't bother me, and they don't take long to politely get them off the phone, either. I know they really irritate some folks, but I find them pretty harmless.

Bobby has found me in all sorts of places including Metro... He is actually a great fan just like Donna described. I went to the funeral visitation when one of his parents passed away several years ago and he was thrilled that someone in his radio world cared enough to stop by even for a minute or two.. His family thanked me over and over again for making his day just by showing up.

If you ever want to thrill the guy... get his address and send him a cassette or cd of an old aircheck. I had a couple of composites from when I was production director at KLDE back when Joe Ford and Barry Kaye were on the air.... After I sent copies of those to Bobby, you would have thought I had just given him a million dollars.

*twirling my hair*
Last I saw you was at the Duchess' birthday. Thank you for taking care of her this weekend!
And get that Facebook up and running.

Bobby's luckier than he knows, to be appreciated by those he admires most.

what great stories! kevin, wow. i get that, i truly do. does anyone remember itimar? i visited itimar's mother. she had photos of him before 'nam with roger daltry and joe cocker, i think..
when she died, i visited him in his new "home".
i have kept bobby's number.

auntie -- *slowly grinning* a standing ovation!!! talk with you soon. just don't make me get on facebook.

Turns out that Bobby is the one who found out before anyone that Mega 101 has a new Morning Show....El Chucker y El Colonel!

Didn't mean to imply that Bobby wasn't a nice fellow, just didn't think it was right for anyone to give out the home phone number of a current or former co-worker.

Always took the time to talk to Bobby, Karen & J.C. when they would call. Never a bad mood out of any of them, true fans of radio & radio is a huge part of their lives.

Sorry to hear about Bobby's mom passing, I remember when his dad passed & Kevin went to the visitation, but that is the kind of person Kevin is so it didn't surprise me that he would take the time out of his busy day to do it.

Donna, I miss our Sunday morning's together. To me you are the sweetheart of Houston radio. Glad I had the chance to work with you.

Bobby is one of the sweetest listeners ever and one of the most dedicated too. At any given time can tell you where everyone from the market is now and from 20 years ago. He is an encyclopedia of Houston radio.
