Today is your last day of listening of Music of your Life on 1480 AM KPHX before they filp the format to Air America Tomworrom.

Enjoy while you can.
Edited by James1985 on 04/02/06 06:22 PM.

Newsscope 1480: KPHX

Anyone remember the 6 month period when KPHO radio had become KJJJ, and Roger Downey moved Phoenix's first all news radio staff up the dial to 1480?

I think it lasted six months, until KTAR dumped it's "Don't Ever Let A Happy Moment Pass You By" MOR format and went all-news.

I think it ws 1970.

Thank God!! Not that I like AA that much but I shocked the day I turned on 1480 thinking I would hear some comedy and I heard that horrible format. I know if I was older maybe I would enjoy it but this 31 yr old man was shocked to hear that music on my comedy channel! I probably will check out AA every so often but thank god MOYL format is H I S T O R Y

Don't look for Danny Davis to invite you to any
KOY functions!

BTW, the old KRIZ 1230 stick still garners better
numbers than KNRJ's rimshot/translator...unless
something extraordinary occurs in the Phoenix
winter phase two release tomorrow.

The then-still-a-daytimer 1480 which had been
country KHAT, with an enormous 500 watts?

And what of Olaf Thorvaldsen?

The Number One Song in Heaven ain't done by Sparks. With any luck, the spirit of Al Ham is into Elvis, the delicate Pearl, and Jim Morrison.

Well some radio broadcaster with enough courage needs to put a Energy type of format on a better singal in the valley. It would be interesting to see what a Energy format would do if it was on a frequency like maybe 96.9 or even 103.9. As long as they are on the rim shot, they have no chance in the world of ratings but its nice to have a station to tune to when you need to shake your booty :)

IIRC, KPHX was all news from sometime in 1972 to early '74, when they went Spanish. KTAR went all-news in the fall of '73, using the "Action News" title on both radio and TV. 5000 watts day and night on 620 beats 500 daytime-only watts on 1480 anytime.

I had joy
I had fun
I had seasons
in the sun

But the wine and
the song
like the seasons
are all gone

If that crap on KNRJ had any appeal whatsoever it would be on one of the 40 signals that actually covers the market.

And do you think ANY of that flash in the ban fad will be remembered in 5 years, mcuh less 50?

Face it - your favorite radio station gets a smaller rating than 50 year old music on an AM.
