I posted it because I thought some who peruse or post on this site might find it interesting. That said, unlike some on this site, I'm also open to the idea that perhaps not everyone may think in the same manner I do.
When I saw this little factoid about the anniversary of the iPhone, I found it interesting that the iPhone, and all the changes and advances it brought, occurred 15 years ago. In some ways it feels like it's been forever ago (around the time the original iPhone was launched, I was using a Motorola Razr V3 which was considered thin and stylish at the time, no QWERTY keyboard so the little texting I did back then was monotonous and I don't remember ever using my data plan). In other ways it feels somewhat hard to believe that it was 15 years ago, as it feels like we've been using smartphones, their apps, connection to the internet and the abilities and conveniences they give us, seemingly forever.
I had a similar feeling when I went to assist a client about 10 years ago with an installation that had been done in I think 2001. When I asked if they had copies of the software and programming in use, they gleefully said "Oh yes!" and brought me a nice thick binder, well organized and labeled - full of 3.5" floppys containing all the stuff I'd requested. Again, that's what was in wide use at the time that particular installation was done (somewhat affordable memory sticks would become more widely available a year or two later, though I still remember paying $40 for a 256MB memory stick and that was
on sale at staples in about 2001 or 2002) though I was till taken aback seeing all those floppies, as none of the more recent installations I'd done or seen in several years were obviously using them.
