> WOXY-FM's iPod-like random shuffle of thousands of rock hits is "one of the hottest, fastest-growing formats in the country," says Fred Stern, First Broadcasting spokesman. The format is aimed at listeners 35 to 44 who "don't want to hear the same song over and over".

Then why does the same sequence of songs repeat every 16-20 hours? I think I've heard Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" more on 97.7/99.5 so far this week than I've heard it on the Fox in the last 10 years!

Just a guess... they've gotta be running a pre-recorded loop, and haven't changed it for a few days.

When I said "Why", I didn't mean from a technical standpoint. It's obvious that they're running a loop.

I meant "Why" from a philosophical standpoint. If they say they are this breath of fresh air with all of these great songs, then they shouldn't be repeating them so often in the same sequence. Even average listeners will pick up on that, not just us radio geeks.

Oh. Duh. My fault for not reading properly. ;)

Maybe this change was rushed and they are still getting things together? I don't know.

Maybe because this is just a filler format until they move to the Mason site. I believe this was approved but have they made the move yet?

The move hasn't been made. It certainly seems like a filler format, based on the way it sounds. And I stand corrected about the repetition factor. It's been as short as 12 hours! The same sequence of songs I heard on the way back from the CDB concert in Blue Ash at 9:30 last night replayed this morning at 9:30 as I left the house.

It has NOT been approved

There were still comments being made as recently as May. The CP they have is to raise antenna height and lower power. It was not the move to the new COL.

Is this the CP to move WOXY to the WKOI-TV tower near Collinsville, OH?

Yes.
